The Snyder Industries 2500 Gallon Green Straight-Wall Vertical Water Storage Tank is a 2,500-gallon polyethylene water storage tank built for bulk water holding where a tall, narrow footprint matters. It stands 90 inches high on a 96 x 96-inch base, so it holds serious volume without sprawling across your pad. The straight wall and green color make it a workhorse for irrigation supply, fire-water reserve, and general vertical water storage duty.

Will it work for your site?

This tank carries a specific gravity rating of 1.0, which means it is engineered for water and water-density liquids - not heavier chemical solutions. The body is polyethylene, the standard resin for above-ground water storage. Plan your contents around that 1.0 rating: a full tank of water weighs 20,850 pounds, which is also the maximum rated contents weight, so whatever supports it has to carry that load whether you are storing water or any other liquid at or below water density. The drawing shows two outlets you can build around - a 2-inch heavy-duty PP bulkhead and a 1-1/2-inch PP eco-bulkhead - plus a 26-inch vented manway. A practical plumbing logic: fill through the manway, run your higher-flow gravity feed off the 2-inch HD bulkhead, and reserve the 1-1/2-inch eco-bulkhead for a lower-flow tap or drain. Confirm those locations and sizes against the technical drawing on this page before you set your plumbing; stainless lid screws are spec'd for the closure hardware.

The EPDM seal and the manway vent

Both bulkheads seal on EPDM gaskets. EPDM is an excellent wetted elastomer for water and water-based service, and it is also the seal of record you must re-check if you ever deviate from plain water - the gasket, not just the resin, defines the chemical boundary. The 26-inch manway is the vented type, so it handles atmospheric venting and body entry for cleaning and inspection in one fitting: the integral vent relieves vacuum on rapid draw-down and pressure on fast fill, which means you do not need to add a separate vent fitting.

Sizing the pad and the support

At 20,850 pounds full, a 2,500-gallon tank needs a level, continuously supported base across the entire 96.0 x 96.0-inch footprint - no point loads, no overhang. Use our Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm this vertical tank fits your volume and clearance, and review Concrete Pad Sizing for Above-Ground Polyethylene Tanks for the ACI 360R-10 framework on slab design. If this tank is feeding a private fire-protection system, the Fire-Water Reservoir Tank Design guide walks the NFPA 22 sizing discipline and cold-climate freeze protection. For grey-water, rainwater, or HVAC condensate aggregation duty, see Industrial Water Reuse Tank Topology.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error on a tank like this is filling it with something heavier than water. The 1.0 specific gravity rating is the line: at full water weight of 20,850 pounds this tank is already at its rated load, so any liquid denser than water would push the wall past what it was designed to hold. If your application involves a heavier-than-water or contained solution, do not assume a water tank covers it - step up to a higher-rated, double-wall line and start with Snyder Captor Double-Wall Freeboard Sizing. The second mistake is under-building the base; the footprint must be fully and evenly supported.

This tank ships LTL freight from a single West Coast ship point - the Merced, CA plant - with freight quoted live to your ZIP code. Because there is one origin on a tank in the 20,850-pound class, non-West buyers especially should run the numbers before ordering: get your freight quote with our Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 to talk through sizing, fittings, and lead time.
