2,500 gallons for sulfuric acid service
The Snyder 5090000N30 is the sulfuric acid version of Snyder's 2,500 gallon vertical chemical tank: white high density linear polyethylene, 90 inches across and 107 inches tall, 560 pounds empty, with a wall rated for a specific gravity of 1.9. That rating puts the maximum contents at 39,615 pounds against 20,850 for water, which is what concentrated sulfuric acid, one of the densest commodity chemicals a plant handles, needs. A 2 inch outlet at the base and an 18 inch threaded, vented manway on top.

What the sulfuric grade means
Sulfuric acid is heavy, it generates heat when it meets water, and it attacks fittings that other chemicals ignore, so a tank sold for it is built and fitted differently from a general chemical tank: the resin and the wall are specified for the acid's density and its exotherm, and the fittings are chosen for the acid rather than for general service. Confirm the concentration you buy against the chemical compatibility database; the list below is the resin's rated chemistry, and sulfuric at different strengths behaves as different chemicals. Never add water to a tank that holds acid; the fill order is water first, acid second, and the tank is sized for the diluted volume. The 2,500 gallon vertical tank buyers guide compares the class, and the tank sizing calculator sizes the volume to feed rate and delivery interval.
The 90 x 107 inch acid tanks and their neighbors
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5090000N30 (this tank, sulfuric grade) | 2,500 | 90 x 107 in | 560 lb |
| 5090100N45 | 2,500 | 90 x 107 in | 560 lb |
| 5050000C126 | 2,000 | 90 x 88 in | 400 lb |
| 7410000N30 (low profile, sulfuric grade) | 3,000 | 102 x 96 in | 520 lb |
The 5090100N45 is the same shell and weight in the general 1.9 chemical grade, for caustic, ferric and alum. The 5050000C126 gives up 500 gallons at 88 inches on the same base. The 7410000N30 is the sulfuric grade in the low profile 3,000 gallon shape, 11 inches shorter on a 102 inch base, for the room with a low ceiling.

Openings, instruments, containment
- Outlet: 2 inch, at the bottom of the sidewall; a flanged transition in an acid-rated material, an expansion joint, and a valve supported off the slab.
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway; vent it outside through a line the acid mist cannot corrode, and fill through a dip tube to the floor.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C; a tank that receives acid warm from a tanker or from dilution is watched against that limit.
Choose the level sender for sulfuric specifically with the level gauge selection guide; wetted parts rule out most standard senders, and a non-contact radar unit on the manway is the usual answer. Containment is not optional for acid: a berm around a 90 inch tank, or a double wall, and the Snyder Captor 110 percent containment comparison shows where the double wall is the smaller footprint. The tank sizing guide covers the reserve to carry between deliveries.
What it holds in practice
Sulfuric acid at water and wastewater plants for pH control and at industrial sites for process use; the pad is an engineered slab in full contact under the 90 inch floor, sized for 39,615 pounds and level enough that 107 inches of tank stands plumb. Label the tank for the fire inspector and the workplace inspector at once, and keep the approach clear for the tanker.
Getting it to the pad
At 90 inches across and 107 inches long on the deck the 5090000N30 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator prices it for your ZIP, and the listed price is before freight. A forklift with long forks sets 560 pounds on the slab. Strap it while empty, water-test in stages with a hold, then drain and dry completely before the first acid delivery; water left in an acid tank is the exotherm nobody wants. Once it is full and holding, leave it alone for a day before the plumbing goes on; a settled tank is a quiet one.
