The Snyder Industries 30 Gallon Plastic Horizontal Leg Tank is a compact, saddle-style horizontal tank built for mobile transport jobs where a small footprint and self-supporting molded legs matter. It holds 30 gallons in white High Density Linear Polyethylene, measures 26 in high by 23 in wide by 20 in long, and sits on a 23.0 x 20.0 in footprint. The molded legs let it ride flat on a truck bed, trailer, or skid without a separate cradle, which is why buyers searching for a horizontal leg tank, a Snyder horizontal tank, or a 30 gallon horizontal land here.

Will this tank handle your job?

Filled with water, this tank carries about 250 lb. Snyder rates it for a maximum contents weight of 475 lb, and that headroom comes from a 1.9 specific gravity rating, meaning the shell and leg structure are engineered for fluids weighing up to 1.9 times water. Do the math before you load: at 1.9 SG a full 30 gallons reaches roughly that 475 lb ceiling, so the densest listed fluids here (sulfuric acid at 98%, ferric chloride at 50%) put you near the structural limit at full volume. Fill to weight, not just to the gallon mark. If you are matching a tank to a known load, the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide walk you through capacity, weight, and footprint against your trailer or truck bed.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is molded from HDLPE and rated to 1.9 specific gravity, which is what makes it a serious chemical-haul tank rather than a water-only vessel. Compatibility is always concentration- and temperature-specific, so check the OEM chemical-resistance chart against your exact fluid and operating temperature, and match your fittings and gaskets to the chemical, not to the tank. Note the gasket families below: most fluids run EPDM, the aggressive oxidizers and acids (hydrochloric, sodium hypochlorite, sulfuric, phosphoric, hydrogen peroxide, hydrofluoric, hydrofluosilicic) need Viton, and peracetic acid is the standout that needs Aflas, a gasket most shops do not keep on the shelf, so order it up front. The mistake to avoid

The most common error on a tank like this is matching fittings to the tank instead of to the chemical. The 1.9 SG rating tells you the shell can hold the weight, but it says nothing about whether your fitting and gasket will survive the fluid. Sulfuric acid wants CPVC and Viton; DEF and peracetic acid want 316SS; peracetic acid specifically wants an Aflas gasket. Order the wrong gasket and you get a leak path long before the tank itself fails. Pull the exact concentration, fitting material, and gasket from the table above and the OEM chemical-resistance data, and confirm them against your operating temperature. This is a single-wall tank; if your job carries a secondary-containment requirement, see the Snyder Captor double-wall tanks for SPCC 40 CFR 112 walkthrough. Hauling on public roads? The applicator and leg tanks DOT non-roadable scope and 49 CFR 173.5 farm-fleet exemption guides explain the classification before you load.
