Where a straight wall pays off

Buy this shape for a well house, a pump room, a barn bay or a yard where the tank has to stand close to something else. A tapered tank the same volume needs clearance around its shoulder; this one does not. Rainwater collection from a roof, a household reserve where the well is slow, stock water, irrigation holding and a fire reserve are the normal jobs, and at 97 inches tall the manway is reachable from a short step ladder rather than a platform. Full, the tank puts 25,020 lb on a 102 inch circle, and a rotationally moulded floor bears on the whole pad, so the pad is the whole job: a slab in full contact or a compacted, screeded gravel base built level, because a low corner under a wide tank puts the weight on that corner. Strap or anchor it while it is empty; a black tank in the sun grows and shrinks a little each day, and a straight wall gives a strap nothing to slide down. Openings and fittings

1. Inlet. A 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed high in the wall. A float valve, a fill line from the pump or a downpipe adapter threads into it.
2. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. Your valve or pump suction threads straight in. Support the valve and the first length of pipe within a foot of the wall so the fitting carries water, not hardware, and put a flexible connector before the first rigid joint.
3. Manway. A 26 inch threaded vented manway on top. It is wide enough for a float, a level sensor, a submersible pump or a hand and a brush. Keep the vent clear so air moves as the level changes.
4. Extra ports. An overflow or a second draw means another bulkhead fitting; tell us when you order and it goes on before the tank ships.
