Twenty-nine thousand pounds, ten feet high
Full, the tank weighs 29,190 pounds, carried on a 96 inch circle with the mass high; a level slab in full contact with the whole floor is the requirement, and any settlement on one side puts the wall in bending. The manway is a ladder job at 125 inches, so run the fill to the top inlet and keep the manway for inspection with its vent clear.
Ports
- Inlet: 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting on top.
- Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the base; full-port valve, then a union, then the pump, so the pump comes off without draining 3,500 gallons.
- Access: 26 inch threaded, vented manway, large enough to climb in for a cleanout. The vent moves the air displaced by 3,500 gallons on fill and draw-down; a blocked vent on a tank this tall is a collapsed wall.
Use the top inlet for the fill line or a float valve so the manway stays closed, and keep a foot of clearance above it for the lid.
