3,000 gallons of black water storage under eight feet
The Snyder WB73 is a black polyethylene water tank that holds 3,000 gallons in a shell 102 inches across and 93 inches tall, weighing 670 pounds. It is the low 3,000 for water in full sun under a normal eave: the black wall keeps light out so the water stays clear of algae, and the eight and a half foot base puts a tanker's partial load under an eight foot roof with the 24 inch threaded, vented manway reached from a step. A 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead inlet, a 2 inch polypropylene bolted outlet with stainless hardware, a 3 year warranty, and a rating of 1.0 specific gravity for water and liquids no heavier.

Twelve and a half tons of water under an eight foot roof
Full, the WB73 puts 25,020 pounds on a 102 inch circle, and a rotationally molded floor bears on the whole pad, so the pad is what matters: a compacted, screeded gravel base or a slab in full contact, with the empty tank strapped against wind, because a black tank in the sun expands and moves a little every day. Black polyethylene absorbs the ultraviolet that ages a white wall and passes no light to the liquid, so a black tank outdoors holds water clear for years, and this shell carries nearly twice the resin of the lightest 3,000 on this base, for a long life in the weather. Our 3,000 gallon black water tank buyers guide sets the makers' shapes at this volume side by side; the tank sizing calculator tells you whether 3,000 gallons covers the draw, and the tank sizing guide covers days of supply.
Snyder's 2,600 to 3,500 gallon water tanks
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| WB73 (this tank, black, low profile) | 3,000 | 102 x 93 in | 670 lb |
| 32781 (low profile) | 3,000 | 102 x 97 in | 350 lb |
| 32567 | 3,000 | 96 x 109 in | 382 lb |
| 32569 | 3,000 | 96 x 109 in | 427 lb |
| WG62 (green) | 2,600 | 96 x 91 in | 427 lb |
| 32294 (tall) | 3,500 | 96 x 125 in | 535 lb |
The 32781 is the light 3,000 on this base, 4 inches taller at almost half the resin, for a buyer who wants the price rather than the wall. The 32567 and 32569 stand the same 3,000 gallons on a 96 inch base at 109 inches, the WG62 is the green 2,600 under 91 inches, and the 32294 holds 3,500 on a 96 inch base at 125 inches for a site with height.

Ports and manway
- Inlet: 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting.
- Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene bolted fitting with stainless hardware, at the base; a flexible connector between the fitting and hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad. For a fire reserve a larger outlet is specified at order.
- Access: 24 inch threaded, vented manway, wide enough to enter for cleaning, reached from a step.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
A bolted outlet spreads the load of a heavy valve and pipe run over a ring rather than a thread. A 2 inch outlet feeds a pressure pump or a fire pump's suction without starving it, and the low shape keeps the suction flooded to the last few inches. A black wall shows no level, so fit a sender read at ground level or a sight tube off the outlet, and a low-level switch protects the pump. In a freezing climate insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first run of pipe; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.
Where you will find one
Well storage for a house, a barn and a garden in full sun, a rain cistern under a large roof, stock water on a pasture, and a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes, where the low center of gravity counts. Several of them are the storage stage of a reuse system for roof water and condensate, per the industrial water reuse tank topology article, where the dark wall keeps the stored water from turning green.
Shipping the tank
The WB73 ships as LTL freight at class 300; the freight cost estimator gives the number for your ZIP; the price shown here is before freight. A forklift with long forks sets 670 pounds on the pad, or two people stand it; at 102 inches across it goes outside. Fill it to the manway once, check both fittings, and keep a screen on the inlet and the vent. A photo of the tank on its pad, full, on day one is worth keeping; it is the baseline every later inspection is compared against.
Freight and documents
Ships from: Merced, CA. LTL freight is quoted to your ZIP with the freight cost estimator or by phone at 866-418-1777. The listed price is before freight.
