Why a siphon outlet
A conventional bottom outlet needs clearance under the fitting for a valve and a pipe, which a spill pallet, a containment basin or a flat mezzanine deck does not give. A siphon outlet moves the fitting up the wall and reaches the floor with a tube inside the tank, so the tank stands on any flat surface and still drains to the last few inches. The trade is that a siphon needs a pump or a prime; it does not gravity-drain below the fitting height.
