The Snyder Industries 3000 Gallon XLPE Cone Bottom Tank (SKU 5150000N46) is built for full-drain chemical service, molded from crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) and rated to 1.5 specific gravity. It stands 144 inches tall - a full 12 feet - on a 90 x 90 inch footprint, and its cone-bottom geometry is designed for gravity discharge so the tank drains down through the bottom outlet rather than leaving product pooled on a flat floor. In black XLPE, this is the heavy-duty end of the cone bottom tank lineup, sized for batching, dosing, and process feed where a flat-bottom vessel leaves chemical behind.

Will it work for your application

Full of water this tank carries 25,020 lb, and at its 1.5 SG ceiling it holds up to 37,530 lb of contents - size your stand, ring, or saddle for that loaded weight, not the empty shell. A cone bottom tank must sit in a matched steel stand; it is not designed to free-stand when full. The technical drawing on this page shows the molded fittings: a bottom FLANGE for discharge, an 18-inch PE threaded and vented top fitting, and a manway with 15-inch access for filling, gauging, and interior cleanout. Use our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to confirm the 3000-gallon working volume fits your batch cycle, then see the cone bottom tank stand compatibility matrix and the 3000 gallon cone bottom buyer's guide before you order a frame.

Chemical compatibility

This is an XLPE (crosslinked) tank rated to 1.5 specific gravity. At 1.5 SG and XLPE resin, the following are compatible at the listed concentrations - match fittings and gaskets to the chemical, do not default to plain PVC across the board:

Note the fitting metallurgy: DEF (32.5%) is the one chemical on this list that calls for 316 stainless fittings, not PVC, and DEF, Urea Solution, and Acetic Acid all call for PP or PVC - confirm the right fitting material before you plumb the tank. Several chemicals our customers ask about - Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrofluosilicic Acid (Viton gaskets), Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, and Sodium Thiosulfate - require a higher 1.9 SG tank rather than this 1.5 SG model. If you are storing any of those, step up to the 1.9-rated version. Many of these chemicals also trigger secondary-containment requirements; the Captor Plus 110% containment vs UL-142 / SPCC comparison walks through that. Compatibility figures are concentration and temperature specific; verify your exact concentration and operating temperature against the Chemical Compatibility Database before service.

The mistake to avoid

The single most common error on a cone bottom XLPE tank is matching the wrong SG rating to the chemical. This is a 1.5 SG tank - correct for the compatible list above, while the denser chemicals listed require a 1.9 SG tank instead. The second is fitting and gasket selection: most of these chemicals run EPDM gaskets, but Hydrofluosilicic Acid calls for Viton, and DEF needs 316SS fittings rather than PVC. Match resin, SG, fitting material, and gasket to the chemical - not just to the tank.

This tank ships LTL freight from the Snyder plant in Lincoln, NE, quoted live to your ZIP - because it is a roughly 12-foot, single-piece oversize item, your freight number and delivery depend on offload access, so confirm you have a forklift or liftgate at the destination before you finalize.
