Chemical compatibility
This tank is molded in HDLPE and rated to 1.5 specific gravity. Compatibility is concentration- and temperature-specific, so always confirm your exact chemistry against the OEM chemical-resistance chart and the elastomer and fitting materials below. At the 1.5 SG rating, this tank suits acetic acid (60%), aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), diesel exhaust fluid / DEF (32.5%), ferrous sulfate (20%), magnesium chloride (30%), sodium carbonate (30%), urea solution (50%), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM). Recommended fitting materials are PP/PVC for acetic acid and urea solution, and PVC for aluminum sulfate, calcium chloride, ferrous sulfate, magnesium chloride, sodium carbonate, and ozonated water. DEF is the one compatible chemistry here that calls for 316 stainless steel fittings rather than PVC or PP, so spec the right wetted metal on your DEF build. All of these chemistries specify EPDM gaskets.
Several common chemicals are NOT suited to this 1.5 SG tank and require a heavier 1.9 specific gravity vessel instead: ethylene glycol, ferric chloride, ferric sulfate, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrofluosilicic acid, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, phosphoric acid, polyaluminum chloride, potassium carbonate, potassium hydroxide, propylene glycol, sodium bisulfate, sodium bisulfite, sodium hypochlorite, sodium thiosulfate, sulfuric acid, and zinc orthophosphate. Gasket choice on that heavier tank varies by chemistry: aggressive oxidizers and strong acids such as sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide, hydrochloric acid, and sulfuric acid call for Viton rather than EPDM, while peracetic acid specifically requires Aflas on a 316 stainless build, not Viton. The mistake to avoid
