Who needs 1.9 at 3,650 gallons

This is a wall bought for a liquid, not for a site. The duty is the dense stuff: a brine or a spent pickle liquor at a mill, a mineral slurry make-up at a mine, a heavy acid or a concentrated fertilizer solution at a plant that will not accept a vessel rated to the water it happens to hold this month. At 1.9 the sheet allows 57,838 pounds of contents where plain water in the same 3,650 gallons is 30,441, and that difference is the whole reason to buy the N48 instead of a lighter wall in the identical shell. The delivery looks like any other tanker call, and that is the trap: the driver sees a tank and pumps, so the only defense is that the vessel under the hose is rated for what is in the trailer. Get the ground right to match. A rotationally molded floor bears on its whole floor, so the full load lands on a 102 inch circle and the slab is engineered per the concrete pad sizing guide, level and in full contact, inside a berm sized to the tank where the liquid is regulated. Ten and a half feet of empty shell weighing 973 pounds still catches wind, so band it to structure or to anchors set in the slab the day it lands. The black passes no light into the liquid and takes the ultraviolet that ages a pale shell outdoors; it also hides the level, so a sender and a local gauge belong in the install. Every 8190000 in the table is the same 102 x 126 inch envelope, and the empty weight is the honest index of wall: 973 pounds here, 790 for the two C26 walls, 750 for the C37, each of those rated as its own sheet says. The 8190000N46 is the other N wall in this shell and it carries the lighter rating; take it when the liquid is not dense enough to need what you are paying for here. SII-32288 is listed as the sheet spells it, 3,500 gallons on a 96 inch base at 125 inches, which is the tank for a site where 102 inches will not thread through. The 5190000N40 goes the other way, 3,900 gallons on a 90 inch circle at 163 inches tall, for the plant with headroom and no floor.

Suction, prime, and the dry-run float

• Pump: a dense liquid is a pump problem before it is a tank problem. Sized on water, a pump moving a load at the 1.9 rating draws more power and more torque, so it gets sized on the real fluid, set below the tank floor for a flooded suction, and given a short suction run with as few elbows as the pad allows. A low-level float that stops it before it draws air is the cheapest part in the system.
• Draw-off: the sheet lists the outlet as 13.75 and gives no bulkhead size, material or thread, so the draw-off is specified at order against the liquid. It gets a flexible connector to hard pipe and the first valve on its own support off the pad.
• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway at 126 inches. Fill down a dip tube to the floor, vent outdoors and size the vent to the delivery pump, and keep the lid shut between calls.
• Structure: the sheet lists 2 flange lines on this shell and no lugs, so lifting is by straps under the body.
• Service limit: 140 F / 60 C.

Ten and a half feet of a 1.9 liquid standing over the draw-off is more pressure at the fitting than the same height of water, and everything hanging off that fitting should be chosen with that in mind. Support the valve, flex the connection, and never let a rigid pipe run bolted straight to the tank put thermal movement and pump vibration into the wall. Put the name of the one liquid inside on the shell, in paint, where the driver reads it before he couples up. Give the wall above the liquid line a light at every opening, because the headspace is where a dense chemical works on a tank first. Where the site freezes, trace or wrap the valve and the first pipe run rather than the shell.
