A 4,100 gallon heavy duty XLPE tank on a ten foot circle, under nine feet tall
Snyder part number 8200000N48 is a 4,100 gallon heavy duty vertical storage tank moulded in black crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE), 120 inches in diameter and 100 inches tall, 930 lb empty. It is the low, wide shape at this capacity: a ten foot circle that stands a little over eight feet, so the whole tank can be worked from a short ladder inside a low building. The wall is rated for liquids up to 1.9 specific gravity, Snyder's heavy duty rating, built for the dense acids, caustics and concentrated solutions an ordinary tank is not. 4,100 gallons of water alone weighs 4,100 x 8.34 = 34,194 lb, and a liquid at the full rating weighs 1.9 times that. The top carries an 18 inch threaded vented manway. Snyder puts the service limit at 140 F (60 C), and backs it with a 3 year warranty. Black keeps light off the contents.

Where a low, wide heavy duty tank goes
At 100 inches the lid is a little over eight feet off the pad, reachable from a short ladder, so inspection and sampling need no platform and the fill and vent lines clear the top in most buildings. The cost is floor: a 120 inch circle is ten feet of slab, and a rotationally moulded floor bears on all of it, so the pad is level, cured and in full contact under every square foot while it carries 34,194 lb of water or well over that with a dense liquid. What the heavy duty wall is for

Openings and fittings
- Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top of a 100 inch shell. Land the fill on a permanent connection, run a dip tube to the floor so the stream does not foam the headspace, and keep the lid threaded shut between deliveries.
- Outlet. Tell us the liquid, the flow and the pump at order and we confirm the outlet this tank is supplied with before anything is drilled. With only 100 inches of liquid above the floor the suction head is small: mount the transfer pump below the outlet where gravity keeps it primed, fit a low level float, and carry the first valve on its own support with a flexible connector to the shell.

Snyder makes 4,100 gallons on two moulds, and the names are the same, so order by part number. The tank ships LTL at freight class 300 from Snyder's plant in Marked Tree, AR, 120 x 120 x 100 inches and 930 lb on the truck. A ten foot shipment is outside the ordinary trailer profile, so plan the unloading before delivery day: a forklift with forks long enough to reach across the base, or a crane with straps under the body, and nothing rigged to the manway. Check the part number against 8200000N48 on the bill of lading. Set it on the cured pad in one move, fill it with water, hold it, and walk the full circumference of the base before the working liquid goes in.
