Snyder Industries 4500 Gallon ASTM Black Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank

The lowest shape for this volume

A 91 inch body is the reason to buy this tank. It goes under a low shed roof, inside an existing bay, beneath a canopy or behind a screen wall where a tall tank would show. With the 1.9 rated wall it can hold dense brine, concentrated fertilizer or a treatment solution in that low space. Outdoors, the shape is steady: little height for wind to work on, and a manway you can reach from a short step platform. Measure the access as well as the headroom, because a 143 inch tank has to get through the gate or the door to reach its pad. The floor carries everything. A moulded tank bears on its whole base, so the slab under a 143 inch circle must be level and in full contact to the rim; work it through with our concrete pad sizing guide and build the berm round the full circle where the liquid is regulated. With so little head over a base fitting, a transfer pump set below the outlet does the work.

What to check before you buy

1. The liquid. Check it against polyethylene in our chemical compatibility guide. Above 1.9 times the weight of water or 120 F, ask us before ordering.
2. The outlet. No bottom fitting is listed for this tank. Tell us the liquid and pipe size and we will confirm the fitting before you order, then connect it with a flexible coupling and support the valve on its own.
3. The manway. 18 inch threaded and vented on the crown. On a wide tank the level rises slowly, but the vent still passes air at the pump's rate, so keep it clear.
4. The volume. Check 4,500 gallons against your use with the tank sizing calculator and the tank sizing guide.

Shipping and receiving

The tank ships at freight class 300 from Snyder's plant at Chowchilla, California, 143 by 143 by 91 inches and 1,100 lb. At 143 inches across it is wider than a standard trailer and moves as an oversize load, so the route matters: check the gate, the turn to the pad and anything overhead before the truck is booked. The listed price is before freight; the freight cost estimator gives the lane cost to your ZIP. Lift with straps under the body, never from the manway. At the tailgate, check 7000400N51 against the bill of lading and walk round the base for damage. Fill it with water first, hold it a day, and look at the base and slab before the working liquid goes in.
