The Snyder Industries 5000 Gallon ASTM Black Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank, part number 1002100N51, is a flat bottom tank moulded in high density linear polyethylene, 102 inches in diameter and 154 inches tall, weighing 1,050 lb empty. It has an 18 inch threaded vented manway on top. The heavy duty wall is rated for liquids up to 1.9 specific gravity, nearly twice the weight of water; 5,000 gallons of water weighs 41,700 lb (5,000 x 8.34). The service limit is 120 F (48 C). A middle shape for heavy liquids
At 102 by 154 inches this tank sits between the wide, low shells and the tall columns: a manway you reach from a short fixed ladder, a footprint that fits most containment pads, and enough height that a base fitting stays flooded for most of the draw. Buyers put it to work on brine for road treatment, dense liquid fertilizer, water treatment solutions and process liquids that weigh more than water. The 1.9 rating is the reason to pick this part number over the standard wall in the same shell: at that density the wall, not the volume, is the limit. - The liquid. Check it against polyethylene in our chemical compatibility guide. Above 1.9 specific gravity or 120 F in service, tell us and we will point you at the right tank.
- The outlet. No bottom fitting is listed for this tank. Tell us the liquid and the pipe size and we will confirm the fitting before you order. A dense liquid puts more load on a base fitting than water does, so use a flexible connector and support the first valve off the pad.
- The manway. 18 inch threaded and vented, 154 inches up. Fill down a dip tube if the liquid fumes, and keep the vent clear.
