5,000 gallons under ten feet, 650 pounds of black tank, rated 1.5

Nine feet eight inches tall and 650 pounds empty. The Snyder 7000500C37-BLACK spreads 5,000 gallons across a 120 inch base at 116 inches of height, the low 5,000 in the family and by some distance the lightest, molded in black polyethylene at Chowchilla, California. The wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.5 on the sheet, or 62,550 pounds of contents against 41,700 pounds for water, and the black resin keeps light off the load. An 18 inch threaded, vented manway, a 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead outlet, a 3 year warranty, and freight at class 400.

Where nine feet eight inches is the whole point

A chemical shed with a ten foot roof, a lean-to off the side of a pump house, a bay where the crane rail runs low: this tank goes where a tall 5,000 cannot, and the manway is opened from a short step with a hand on the rim. The low shape also has the lowest center of gravity of any 5,000 here, so the wind gets little to push and the strapping is the lightest in the group, though it still goes on before the first fill, because the empty black tank between deliveries is the one that moves. Full at the rating it puts 62,550 pounds on a 120 inch circle, and a rotationally molded floor bears on all of it, so the slab is engineered per the concrete pad sizing guide, level and in full contact, inside a berm sized to the tank where the liquid is regulated. Black polyethylene absorbs the ultraviolet that ages a white wall and passes no light to the liquid, which on a Central Valley pad is the difference between hypochlorite that holds strength and hypochlorite that does not; it runs warmer than white in the sun, so shade if the chemical must stay cool, and it hides the level, so a sender read at the ground is the gauge. The tank sizing calculator checks 5,000 gallons against the feed rate and the truck schedule, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve and the freeboard a liquid needs as it warms.

Low or tall: the 5,000 gallon pair, and the 4,900 and 5,100

Snyder makes the same 5,000 gallons two ways: this low tank on a ten foot circle, and the 1002100 tank on a 102 inch circle at 154 inches, nearly thirteen feet, for the site with less floor and more roof. The 1002100C37-BLACK is the tall black tank in the same 1.5 wall, the 1002100C34 the tall black tank with a heavier rating on its own sheet, and the 1002100N40 the tall tank in the other chemical wall; the sheet lists this low tank at 650 pounds and the tall ones at 950, and we print what it says. The 5480000N40 puts 4,900 gallons on a 90 inch base at 202 inches, nearly seventeen feet, for the narrowest pad, and the 32372 is the 5,100 gallon white water tank at 159 inches.

Two rows look the same? The difference is the wall; call 866-418-1777 with the liquid and we will say which, or ask for a quote on both.

A 3 inch outlet with nine feet of liquid over it

  • Outlet: 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, at the base. Name the liquid at order and the fitting, gasket and bolting are matched to it; a flanged transition, a flexible connector to hard pipe, and the first valve supported off the pad.
  • Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 116 inches up, reached from a short step; a dip tube to the floor for the fill; a vent run outdoors on a liquid that fumes and sized to the delivery pump.
  • Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Nine feet of head over a 3 inch outlet is the least in the 5,000 gallon group, and it changes where the pump goes: below the outlet, so gravity primes it, with a low-level float that stops it before it draws air, because on a low tank the last foot of liquid is a larger share of the volume than it is on a tall one. The 3 inch bore still drains the tank in a shift. A manway within reach gets opened too often; keep the lid on between deliveries so vapor stays in and rain stays out, name the chemical on the wall, and look at the headspace band with a light. Where it freezes, protect the valve and the first pipe run; the body takes ice from the top down.

West Coast sites with a low chemical shed

A water plant in the Central Valley with a low hypochlorite room, a co-op with a fertilizer solution under an equipment shed, and a food plant with a light-sensitive process chemical on a covered pad. If site rules require a second wall, the Captor double wall freeboard guide shows what a contained tank at this size gives up in usable volume. A fire reserve wants a water wall, which the fire-water reservoir design guide covers, and where a reuse train stores treatment chemical between stages, the industrial water reuse tank topology article shows where a low tank of this size sits.

650 pounds from Chowchilla at class 400

The 7000500C37-BLACK ships from Chowchilla, California as freight at class 400 as the sheet lists it; at 120 inches across it is a load the carrier handles outside the trailer, and the freight cost estimator prices the lane to your ZIP, with the listed price before freight. A forklift with long forks sets 650 pounds on the pad with straps under the body, never through the manway, and at that weight the tank is the easiest in the group to walk into position on the pad. Fill it with water to the manway once and hold it, watching the pad edge and the outlet fitting for a weep, then drain and dry before the chemical arrives. Write the part number and the first-fill date on the maintenance log the day it lands; five years on, nobody remembers which shell it is. Mark the vent and the outlet on the outside of the shell so nobody caps the wrong one in the dark.
