5,000 gallons of black water storage under seven and a half feet
The Snyder WB84 is a black polyethylene water tank that holds 5,000 gallons in a shell 144 inches across and only 87 inches tall, weighing 900 pounds. It is the lowest 5,000 gallon water tank Snyder makes, for a barn, a shed or a yard under a power line in full sun: the black wall keeps light out so the water stays clear of algae, and the twelve foot base puts a tanker load under an eight foot roof with the 24 inch threaded, vented manway reached from a step. A 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead inlet, a 2 inch polypropylene bolted outlet with stainless hardware, a 3 year warranty, and a rating of 1.0 specific gravity for water and liquids no heavier.

Twenty tons of water on a twelve foot circle
Full, the WB84 puts 41,700 pounds on a 144 inch circle, and a rotationally molded floor bears on the whole pad, so the pad is what matters: the widest floor spans any hollow in a gravel base and cracks there when full, so it stands on an engineered slab in full contact under the whole circle, and at 87 inches it sits low enough that no strap is needed. Black polyethylene absorbs the ultraviolet that ages a white wall and passes no light to the liquid, so a black tank outdoors holds water clear for years; it also runs warmer than a white one, which matters for drinking water in a hot climate. The tank sizing calculator tells you whether 5,000 gallons covers the draw, and the tank sizing guide covers days of supply.
Snyder's 4,100 to 5,100 gallon water tanks
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| WB84 (this tank, black, low profile) | 5,000 | 144 x 87 in | 900 lb |
| 32368 | 5,000 | 119 x 116 in | 805 lb |
| 32370 | 5,000 | 119 x 116 in | 805 lb |
| 32382 (tall) | 5,000 | 102 x 159 in | 876 lb |
| 32384 (tall) | 5,100 | 102 x 159 in | 876 lb |
| 32327 | 4,100 | 102 x 130 in | 714 lb |
The 32368 and 32370 stand the same 5,000 gallons on a 119 inch base at 116 inches, 29 inches taller on a smaller pad, and the 32382 and 32384 hold 5,000 and 5,100 on a 102 inch base at 159 inches for a site with height and no floor. The 32327 is the 4,100 gallon step down on that base.

What is plumbed, and where
- Inlet: 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting.
- Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene bolted fitting with stainless hardware, at the base; a flexible connector between the fitting and hard pipe, and the valve supported off the slab. For a fire reserve a larger outlet is specified at order.
- Access: 24 inch threaded, vented manway, wide enough to enter for cleaning, reached from a step.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
A bolted outlet spreads the load of a heavy valve and pipe run over a ring rather than a thread, which is why it is the fitting on the big water tanks. A 2 inch outlet feeds a pressure pump or a fire pump's suction without starving it, and the low shape keeps the suction flooded to the last few inches. A black wall shows no level, so fit a sender read at ground level or a sight tube off the outlet. In a cold climate the outlet valve and the first run of pipe are insulated or drained; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.
The work it does
Well storage for a community system under a low roof, a rain cistern under a large roof, stock water at a big operation, irrigation storage between pump cycles, and a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes, where the low center of gravity counts. Several of them are the storage stage of a reuse system for roof water and condensate, per the industrial water reuse tank topology article, where the dark wall keeps the stored water from turning green.
Freight, in plain terms
At 144 inches across the WB84 ships as LTL freight at class 400, wider than most loads on the road, so the estimator's lane matters; the freight cost estimator prices the move to your ZIP, and the price on this page is before freight. A forklift with long forks or a small crane sets 900 pounds on the slab, and the slab is checked flat before the tank lands. Fill it to the manway once, hold it, check both fittings, and keep a screen on the inlet and the vent. The first fill is the only cheap time to find a problem, so do it in daylight with someone watching the base.
