The 1.5 wall for the liquid that is not acid

A dairy holding liquid feed supplement, a co-op with a low pole barn and a spring fertilizer run, a small treatment plant dosing hypochlorite: these buyers do not need Snyder's heavy duty wall, and they do need a tank that fits under the roof they have and can be set with the forklift they own. At 116 inches it stands under a ten foot roof line, the manway is reached from a step, and at 650 lb it is the lightest 5,000 gallon tank Snyder makes. The trade is floor: it needs a 120 inch circle of flat, continuous support. What goes in it

Water, fertilizer solution, brine, hypochlorite and polymer are the normal loads. Check anything else against polyethylene in our chemical compatibility guide and tell us the liquid when you order so the outlet fitting is matched to it. White runs cooler than black under a Central Valley sun and shows the liquid line on the wall, which on a farm is the only gauge that gets read; it passes some light, so hypochlorite, which degrades in light, is happier in the black version of this shell or a shaded room. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting low in the wall. On a farm loadout that feeds a centrifugal pump with a full port valve ahead of it; on a dosing skid, a diaphragm pump with a calibration column. Either way the pump sits at pad level below the outlet with a low level float, and a strainer ahead of it, because fertilizer settles and brine drops salt as it cools.
2. Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, 116 inches up, reached from a step: a screen in it for a tote fill, a dip tube for a tanker fill, and a vent sized for the truck's pump.
3. Freeze. The valve and the first pipe run are what crack in a freeze; wrap or trace them and let the body ice from the top down.

A forklift with long forks sets 650 lb on the pad with straps under the body, never through the manway; two people can steady it. Check the part number 7000500C37 against the bill of lading, look over the floor edge and the outlet fitting, fill it with water the first time and leave it a day, then drain it if the liquid is anything but water. Write the fill date on the wall in paint marker; on a seasonal tank the date is the only record you will have.
