Why crosslinked polyethylene here
Crosslinked polyethylene is a different resin family than standard HDPE. The crosslinking bonds the polymer chains, which raises impact and environmental-stress-crack resistance and is why XLPE tanks carry the higher 1.9 specific-gravity rating. The mistake to avoid
The common error on a 1.9-rated vertical is treating the 8,715 lb maximum as the full foundation load. It is not — that figure is contents only. Add the tank's own empty weight (read it off the drawing or spec) to the 8,715 lb before you pour, and size the pad for that total, not the 4,587 lb water weight.
