Low bays, truck bodies and shelter roofs

This is the 550 for a site that has spent its height on something else: a chemical skid inside a container or a shelter, a service truck body, a wash bay under a mezzanine, a greenhouse bench line, a skid that has to clear a roll-up door. At 46 inches the lid is reachable from the ground without a platform, so filling and inspection happen standing up. A wide, low shell is the least likely shape in the family to tip and the most likely to be set on something only nearly flat. It puts 4,587 lb of water, or up to 8,715 lb at the rating, onto a 64 inch circle, and a rotomolded floor bears on the whole pad and on nothing else, so one low corner takes the whole load. Openings and what to confirm before you buy

1. Manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway on a shell 46 inches tall. Everything goes in through that lid and every cubic foot of displaced air comes back out through it. A wide, shallow shell holds a lot of air over a little liquid depth and empties it fast when a tanker pump is running, so size the vent path to the pump.
2. Outlet. No bottom fitting is listed on this tank. Name the liquid and the draw-off you need at order and we will confirm what Snyder fits to this moulding before anything is cut.
3. Headspace. A shallow shell shows thermal expansion as a level change you can see, and a wall rated to 140 F will be asked to hold warm liquids. Fill to the freeboard the sizing guide sets, not to the manway.
4. Fill line. A dip tube to the floor. Forty-six inches is a short fall, but a wide surface foams easily and a splashed headspace wall is one nobody can inspect through an 18 inch opening.

Snyder makes 550 gallons in more than one shape. The tall shell is the 550 gallon ASTM XLPE black heavy duty tank 1800000N48, with the same shell in other walls as the 550 gallon ASTM black heavy duty tank 1800000N51 and the 550 gallon black heavy duty tank 1800000C34. Buy one of those if height is free and floor is not; buy this one if the ceiling is the problem. Shipping and receiving

The tank ships LTL at freight class 400 from the nearer of Snyder's plants at Marked Tree, AR and Philippi, WV, 64 by 64 by 46 inches on a pallet at 100 lb.
