Where the volume is needed and the height cannot be given up

This is the shape for a tank that has to disappear into an existing space: under a mezzanine or a pipe rack, inside a container or a shelter, in a low mechanical room, on a trailer or a skid that must clear a door, in a greenhouse or a wash bay with ductwork overhead. The ground under a wide shell matters as much as the shell. At the rating the tank holds up to 8,715 lb and plain water puts 4,587 lb in it, all bearing on a 64 inch circle, because a moulded floor carries on the whole pad and on nothing else. Pour the slab level and in full contact per our concrete pad sizing guide; a wide tank on a pad with one low corner puts the whole load on that corner. Where the liquid is regulated, it sits inside a berm sized to the tank. Strap it while it is empty: a broad, light tank on an open deck is a sail in the wrong wind.

Openings and what to confirm before you buy

1. Manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway at 47 inches, worked from the ground. Vent and fill share it, and a wide, shallow tank carries a large volume of air over a shallow depth that a transfer pump pushes out fast; size the vent path to the pump rather than to whatever fitting is nearest.
2. Outlet. No bottom fitting is listed on this tank. Name the liquid and the draw-off you need at order and we will confirm what Snyder fits to this moulding before anything is drilled.
3. Headspace. Warm liquids expand and a wall rated to 140 F will see them. Fill to the freeboard the sizing guide gives and treat the manway as the hatch, not the fill mark.
4. Fill line. A dip tube landed near the floor keeps a wide free surface from foaming and keeps the manway threads clean, which matters more on a shell whose only opening is that lid.

The tall 550 shell, and the 500 and 710

This is its own mould, not a variant of the tall 550s it is listed beside. The tall shell is the 550 gallon ASTM XLPE black heavy duty tank 1800000N48, also made as the 550 gallon ASTM black heavy duty tank 1800000N51 and the 550 gallon black heavy duty tank 1800000C34, each rated on its own page. Buy the tall shell when the aisle is tight and the ceiling is not; buy this one when the clearance above the tank is the binding constraint and there is floor to spare. If the volume is negotiable, the 500 gallon ASTM XLPE heavy duty tank 5780100N42 and the 710 gallon ASTM XLPE heavy duty tank 1700200N42 are the cross-linked neighbours, and both are taller than this tank by a long way.
