Where it goes

This is the everyday bulk tank of the family: a treatment chemical held between tanker deliveries at a water plant, a feed solution at a co-op, rinse or process water at a manufacturer, a holding stage that has to stay dark. At 140 inches it clears most chemical building roofs with room for a fill line and a vent above the manway, and at 1,350 lb empty it goes up with a modest crane. The ground is the main structural decision: a rotationally moulded floor bears on its whole floor, so the 120 inch circle carries every pound of contents. A light empty shell is the easiest one for wind to move, so band it to structure or slab anchors the day it lands and check the tension after the first storm and the first summer. What to check before you buy

1. The rating. 1.5 specific gravity means liquids up to 1.5 times the weight of water. A brine or a concentrate belongs on the heavy duty wall from the same mould, linked below. Check the liquid against crosslinked polyethylene in our chemical compatibility guide.
2. The outlet. The product data for 8220000N46 names the manway and no base fitting. Tell us the liquid and the draw-off you want at order and we confirm what the tank is supplied with before anything is drilled. The first valve sits on its own support with a flexible connector to hard pipe.
3. Pump placement. Set the transfer pump below the outlet so gravity keeps it primed, and fit a low level float so it stops before it draws air.
4. The manway and vent. An 18 inch threaded vented manway at 140 inches is platform work: permanent fill connection, dip tube to the floor, vent outdoors on anything that fumes and sized to the delivery pump. Keep it threaded shut between deliveries. Temperature limit: 140 F.

The tank ships LTL at freight class 300 from Snyder's plant in Marked Tree, AR, 120 by 120 by 140 inches on the deck and 1,350 lb. A Mid South dock is a short lane; everyone else should run the ZIP through the freight cost estimator before the requisition goes in. A crane or a loader with long forks stands it up with straps under the body, never a sling through the manway, onto the cured pad, and the bands go on before the crane leaves.
