Where it goes

This is a tank for a site that takes water or liquid by the truckload and draws it down over days: a fire reserve at a rural building, process water at a plant, a rainwater or reuse collection tank, a bulk fertilizer or chemical tank at a blender. At 140 inches, close to twelve feet to the top of the manway, it wants an outdoor pad or a high bay, and the manway is opened from a platform, not a stepladder. The floor is the structural decision. A rotationally moulded tank bears on its whole floor, so the 120 inch circle carries every pound of contents, and a pad with one low side loads that side first. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. Three inches drains a tank this size in a shift and keeps a transfer pump flooded under nearly twelve feet of head. Run a flexible connector between the fitting and hard pipe, and carry the first valve on a support off the pad so the tank wall carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, wide enough for a fill hose, a float and a hand with a brush. The vent is what lets air in as the pump draws; never seal it, and never fill through a closed system without a vent.
3. Temperature and liquid. The service limit is 120 F. Polyethylene handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals; for anything aggressive, check the liquid with us before the order. Where a second wall is required, the double wall freeboard guide works out the usable volume.
