The Norwesco 6100 gallon black heavy duty vertical storage tank, part number 40918, is a rotomolded polyethylene tank 119 inches in diameter and 140 inches tall, weighing 1456 lb empty. It is the heavy duty version of Norwesco's 6100 gallon vertical: the same footprint as the standard tank with a heavier wall, rated for liquids up to 1.9 specific gravity instead of 1.5. That rating covers water, every common liquid fertilizer and most of the chemical solutions that polyethylene handles; 6100 gallons of water weighs 50874 lb, and at the full 1.9 rating the contents can reach 96661 lb. It comes with a 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a 2 inch reducer as the outlet and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. The resin is FDA compliant per Norwesco, Norwesco lists the tank as NSF 61, the service limit is 120 F, and Norwesco backs the heavy duty tank with a 5 year warranty, two years longer than the standard wall. Black keeps light out of the contents, which slows algae in stored water.

Where it goes and what it holds
This is a tank for a fixed site: a fertilizer plant, a chemical feed building, a dairy or a processing yard where the liquid is heavier than water or the tank will be worked hard for years. If you are storing plain water, the standard wall 1.5 tank in the same size does the job for less; the heavy duty wall earns its keep when the specific gravity climbs or when you want the longer warranty on a tank that sits full year round. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall, with a 2 inch reducer so you can run either a 3 inch or a 2 inch line without changing the fitting. Decide the line size from the pump or the gravity flow you need, then thread the valve straight in. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own within a foot of the wall so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose, drop a float or a level sensor in, and get a hand and a brush inside to clean. The vent in the lid lets air in and out as the level changes; never plug it.
- Extra ports. Only the one outlet comes installed. If you need a second draw, a recirculation return or a top fill port, tell us when you order and we quote the bulkhead fittings with the tank.
