The Snyder Industries 6600 Gallon Vertical Storage Tank is built for large-scale water and process-liquid storage where you want a big structural margin and a long service life. It carries 6,600 gallons in a black crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) shell with a 1.9 specific gravity rating. Filled with water it holds roughly 55,044 pounds against a rated contents capacity of 104,584 pounds, so water sits well inside the tank's design envelope with plenty of headroom on the wall. If you are still working out how much tank your site actually needs, run the numbers first with our Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide.

Will this vertical storage tank work for your site?

This is a 6,600 gallon vertical tank measuring 120 inches in diameter and 158 inches tall, giving you a 120 x 120 inch (100 square foot) footprint to plan your pad around. Full of water, that footprint carries about 550 pounds per square foot, so this tank belongs on a properly designed, level pad, not on bare or uneven ground. Before you pour, read Concrete Pad Sizing for Above-Ground Polyethylene Tanks so the ACI framework matches the load you are setting on it. The black XLPE shell also blocks light, which helps limit algae growth in stored water compared with translucent tanks.

Fittings and access

The tank is configured with a flange fitting, an 18-inch PE threaded and vented port, and a manway with a 15-inch clear access opening. That 15-inch manway is your working diameter for interior inspection and cleaning. The 18-inch vented port is the detail worth planning around: on a tank this size, venting keeps the shell from pulling a vacuum on a fast draw-down and from over-pressuring on a fast fill. Confirm fitting locations and elevations against the technical drawing on this page before you plumb the site, since inlet and drain heights drive your pump and manifold layout.

Why crosslinked polyethylene here?

XLPE is the crosslinked resin Snyder uses on its heavier-duty vertical tanks, and the crosslinking is what gives the wall its durability and long-term impact and stress resistance for demanding water and reservoir service. If you want to understand where crosslinking earns its keep, our guide on Snyder XLPE vs HDPE walks through the difference. For fire-water and reservoir duty at rural or remote sites, Fire-Water Reservoir Tank Design covers NFPA 22 sizing discipline and freeze protection for cold climates.
