The Snyder Industries 6600 Gallon Vertical Storage Tank (SKU 5300400N40) is a molded crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) vertical storage tank built for high-density bulk water and demanding storage duty. It stands 158 inches tall on a 120 x 120 inch footprint and carries a 1.5 specific gravity rating, so it holds its structural margin well past the density of plain water. In Natural White, the wall lets you eyeball the liquid level without opening the tank. Buyers cross-shopping an XLPE tank against a standard vertical storage tank land here for exactly that crosslinked-resin margin.

Key specs at a glance

Capacity 6,600 gallons; 158 inches tall on a 120 x 120 inch base; Natural White crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE); 1.5 specific gravity rating; manway with 15-inch access. Full of water the tank carries roughly 55,044 lb of contents, and the 1.5 SG rating means the shell is engineered to hold up to about 82,566 lb of rated contents at maximum density.

Will it work for your site?

Those are big numbers, and they set the install. A 10-foot square base standing nearly 13 feet tall is a poured-foundation, crane-or-boom placement job, not a forklift skid drop. Run your pad and footprint math against the 120 x 120 inch base before you order, and use the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to confirm the volume and standing height suit the application. For above-ground siting, our guide on concrete pad sizing under the ACI 360R-10 framework walks through the foundation the full-water load demands. The XLPE construction is the same crosslinked resin family Snyder uses across its heavy-duty vertical storage line.

Fittings and access

Per the technical drawing on this page, this tank is configured with a flange fitting, an 18-inch PE threaded and vented fitting, and a manway with 15-inch access for interior entry and cleanout. Order your bulkhead and flange gaskets sized to the flange and the 18-inch threaded port so your plumbing seals on first fill, and confirm the fitting locations and elevations against your plumbing plan using the drawing before you set the tank — a 158-inch-tall shell is not something you want to re-pipe after it is on the pad. If you are sizing this for fire-water reserve or reuse storage, the reservoir-design and reuse-topology considerations in our fire-water reservoir design guide and water-reuse tank topology guide are worth reading before you finalize the fitting layout.

The mistake to avoid

The one thing to get right on a tank this size is the freeboard and foundation, not the tank rating. The 1.5 SG rating gives you real headroom on liquid density, but at 55,044 lb full of water the load path into your pad is unforgiving. Do not undersize the concrete or skip the foundation engineering to save time. If your service is anything beyond ambient water, verify the temperature and expansion behavior first; our freeboard sizing guide per ASTM D1998 explains how much usable volume you actually get once thermal expansion is accounted for.

This tank ships LTL from the Snyder plant in Chowchilla, California, so Western ZIPs generally see lower freight than cross-country deliveries. Freight is quoted live to your ZIP based on the delivery point and site access.
