An 80 gallon double wall tank that fits through a door and holds 1.9 specific gravity chemistry
The Snyder 5991002N51 is a square double wall tank: 24 inches on a side, 43 inches tall, black high density linear polyethylene, 90 pounds empty. The outer shell is the containment, so the tank carries its own spill protection into a mechanical room, a lab, or a pump house where there is no berm and no room for one. The 1.9 specific gravity rating covers the dense chemicals a day tank actually sees: sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, ferric and aluminum salts. The listed price is before freight.

Why double wall at 80 gallons
Small chemical tanks leak more often than big ones, because they are moved, refilled by hand and plumbed by whoever is available. An integral second wall turns that risk into a puddle inside the tank instead of on the floor. The Snyder Captor double-wall freeboard sizing guide explains the ASTM D1998 logic behind how much of the 80 gallons is usable once thermal expansion and the chemical's density are accounted for, which is the number to size the batch to. The SPCC 40 CFR 112 walkthrough covers when a double wall tank satisfies containment rules on its own, and the 110 percent containment comparison sets the poly design against steel.
Weight on the floor
Full of water it weighs 667 pounds. At the 1.9 rating it can carry 1,268 pounds of contents, 601 pounds more than the water figure, all of it on a 24 by 24 inch square. That is a concentrated load; on a raised floor or a mezzanine, check the point-load rating and put the tank over a joist, not between two. On a slab it is a non-issue. Service temperature is 120 F / 48 C; the HDPE tank wall thickness at the vapor-saturated headspace article is worth reading before putting an oxidizer in any small poly tank, because the headspace above the liquid is where those fail first. Confirm the chemical against linear polyethylene in the chemical compatibility database.
Four 80 gallon parts, and the sizes either side
| Part | Gallons | Footprint x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5680002N42 | 60 | 26 x 26 x 41 in | 55 lb |
| 5991002N48 | 80 | 24 x 24 x 43 in | 80 lb |
| 5991002N51 (this tank) | 80 | 24 x 24 x 43 in | 90 lb |
| 5991002N42 | 80 | 24 x 24 x 43 in | 100 lb |
| 5991002N45 | 80 | 24 x 24 x 43 in | 100 lb |
| 5700102N42 | 120 | 34 x 34 x 51 in | 100 lb |
The four 80 gallon parts are one shape in four resin grades, 80 to 100 pounds. The suffix is the resin, and the resin is the chemical answer, so name the chemical and we will name the grade. Notice the 60 gallon tank is 2 inches wider than the 80: the smaller capacity uses a different mold, so do not assume a smaller number means a smaller footprint.
Still deciding between these? Freight to your ZIP often settles it; the wider tanks ship differently. Or call 866-418-1777 and we will walk the table with you.
The lid, and where the fittings go
Access is an 8 inch threaded, vented lid. The vent is not decorative: a metering pump drawing from a sealed 80 gallon tank will pull a vacuum on the inner wall within a shift. Fittings are specified at order; on a double wall tank they go through the top or high on the wall so the outer shell is never pierced below the liquid line, which is the whole point of the design. FDA approved resin, 3 year warranty. For sizing the day-tank volume against pump draw, use the tank sizing calculator and the tank sizing guide; a tank this size is also the standard makeup reserve next to a fire pump, covered in the fire-water reservoir tank design guide.
Shipping
Freight class 250, LTL, 90 pounds crated at 24 by 24 by 43 inches. The freight cost estimator quotes it to your ZIP. It is light enough for two people to carry through a standard doorway, which is the reason this shape exists.
Freight and documents
Ships from: Marked Tree, AR. LTL freight is quoted to your ZIP with the freight cost estimator or by phone at 866-418-1777. The listed price is before freight.
