1500 Gallon Vertical Liquid Storage Tank

Where it fits

Fifteen hundred gallons is where a household water reserve becomes a real buffer against a dry well or a power cut, and where irrigation, livestock watering and shop supply start to share one tank. This shape gives you that volume on a pad you may already have for a thousand gallon tank. Check the height first. At 116 inches the top of the tank is just under ten feet, which clears most barn and shop ceilings but not a standard eave, and the manway is up there with it, so plan a ladder or a fill line plumbed to the top and fit the float switch or level gauge before the tank goes into service. The 64 inch base needs a flat, level, continuous surface; because it carries 18765 lb at full rating, a concrete pad is the right foundation. What goes in it

Water, rainwater, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Keep the contents below 120 F and below 1.5 times the weight of water. Heavier liquids, which include some concentrated fertilizers and acids, belong in the heavy duty version of this same shell, rated to 1.9 specific gravity; the options above the price list it in blue and in black. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Turn the tank so the outlet faces the pipe run before the first fill, and support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float in and to get a brush inside. The vent lets air out as you fill and in as you draw down; never plug it.

At the tailgate, check the part number against 40144 on the bill of lading, look over the full length of the shell for transit damage before signing, and fill it with water the first time so any problem shows up with something harmless inside.
