Where a wide, low 1295 fits
Buy this shape when height is the limit and floor is not: under a lean-to or a low shed roof, beside a single storey building where a tall tank would stand above the eave, inside a barn bay with a low door, or anywhere you want to fill, inspect and clean without a ladder. A wide, low tank is also the steadiest choice on a windy site. The trade is the pad. The 84 inch base needs a flat, level, continuous surface seven feet across; because it carries 16200 lb at full rating, a concrete pad is the right foundation, and it must be flat across its whole width or the shell will sit on a ridge. What goes in it
Water, rainwater, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Keep the contents below 120 F and below 1.5 times the weight of water; heavier liquids belong in Norwesco's heavy duty tanks. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a siphon tube. The siphon tube is an internal pipe that lets a side-mounted outlet draw from near the bottom of the tank, so you empty more of the volume than the outlet height alone would allow. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads into the fitting as usual. Turn the tank so the outlet faces the pipe run before the first fill, and support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. On a 64 inch tank it is at head height, so filling from a hose, dropping a float in and getting a brush inside need no ladder. The vent lets air out as you fill and in as you draw down; never plug it.
