1550 Gallon Vertical Liquid Storage Tank

Where a wide, low 1550 fits

Buy this shape when height is the limit and floor is not: under a lean-to or a low shed roof, beside a single storey building where a tall tank would stand above the eave, inside a barn bay with a low door, or on an exposed site where a tall column would catch the wind. The trade is the pad. The 87 inch base needs a flat, level, continuous surface a little more than seven feet across; because it carries 19390 lb at full rating, a concrete pad is the right foundation, and it must be flat across its whole width or the shell will sit on a ridge. What goes in it

Water, rainwater, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Keep the contents below 120 F and below 1.5 times the weight of water. Heavier liquids, which include some concentrated fertilizers and acids, belong in the heavy duty version of this same shell, rated to 1.9 specific gravity; the options above the price list it in blue and in black. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Turn the tank so the outlet faces the pipe run before the first fill, because a full tank does not turn, and support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. On a 67 inch tank it is at head height, so filling from a hose, dropping a float in and getting a brush inside need at most a single step. The vent lets air out as you fill and in as you draw down; never plug it.

The tank ships by LTL freight, 87 inches across and 67 inches tall on the trailer with a ship weight of 220 lb, from the nearest of Norwesco's plants; this tank is built at eleven of them across the country, so the lane is usually short. At seven feet across it takes the full width of the trailer and a wide spot at your gate, so tell us if the delivery truck has a tight approach.
