The Norwesco 175 Gallon 30 Degree Cone Bottom Tank with Poly Stand (SKU N-60113) is built for processes that need to drain completely and clean out fast. This white polyethylene tank holds 175 gallons, weighs 97 lbs empty, and sits on a matching poly stand so the 30-degree cone can gravity-empty through the 2" outlet. A 16" lid up top gives you access for filling, mixing, and inspection. The footprint is a 43" diameter circle standing 49" tall, making it a compact vertical for batch dosing, chemical make-down, and cone-bottom draining where a flat-bottom tank would leave sediment behind. Norwesco molds this tank to a 1.5 specific gravity rating with a 120 F / 48 C maximum temperature and FDA-approved resin.
Will it work for your job
Match the contents to the tank, not just the gallons. Empty, this tank runs 97 lbs; filled with water it carries about 1,460 lbs, and at its full 1.5 specific gravity rating it can hold up to roughly 2,189 lbs of contents. Because it drains through a cone rather than sitting flat, plan your stand clearance and outlet plumbing before you order — the 2" outlet at the cone tip and the 16" fill lid are your two working connections. If you are sizing a dosing or day-tank setup, run the numbers through our Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide, and see the full walkthrough in our 175 Gallon 30 Degree Cone Bottom Tank Buyer's Guide. See the technical drawing on this page for exact port placement and cone geometry.
Chemical compatibility
This is a polyethylene tank rated to 1.5 specific gravity. The resin is listed as HDLPE but not confirmed — before any chemical service, confirm HDLPE versus XLPE with us, since crosslinked and linear polyethylene resist different chemistries. Per the Snyder Industries OEM chemical-resistance chart (concentration- and temperature-specific), this 1.5 SG tank is compatible with acetic acid (60%), aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%), ferrous sulfate (20%), magnesium chloride (30%), sodium carbonate (30%), urea solution (50%), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM). Most of these services take PVC fittings with EPDM gaskets, but check each line against the chart — the chart calls for PP or PVC on acetic acid. Two of the most common uses for this size cone tank, DEF (required SG 1.35) and urea solution (required SG 1.35), sit below the tank's 1.5 rating, so it is over-rated, not marginal, for those. Note that DEF specifically requires 316SS fittings with EPDM gaskets — do not put PVC on a DEF line. Confirm your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting plus gasket material against the OEM chart and our Chemical Compatibility Database before you order.
The mistake to avoid
Don't put a heavier chemistry in a 1.5 SG tank. Several common industrial chemicals need a higher-SG (1.9) tank, not this one: ethylene glycol, ferric chloride, ferric sulfate, hydrochloric acid (37%), hydrofluoric acid (48%), hydrogen peroxide (50%), phosphoric acid (85%), sodium hypochlorite, and sulfuric acid (98%), among others. If your chemical is on that heavier list, ask us for the right SG tank rather than under-rating this one — and mind the gasket: those strong acids and oxidizers (hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, hydrogen peroxide, phosphoric, sodium hypochlorite, sulfuric) call for Viton, and peracetic acid needs Aflas, not EPDM.
