The Norwesco 305 gallon vertical liquid storage tank, part number 40302, is a polyethylene tank 46 inches in diameter and 50 inches tall, weighing 64 lb empty. Where the low, wide 305 goes
Fifty inches of height puts this tank under a greenhouse bench line, under a low shed roof, in a basement with ductwork across the ceiling, or on a trailer deck, and the manway at that height means a person can reach the bottom with a brush. It is the usual choice for a stock water tank fed from a hydrant, a rainwater reserve with a submersible pump dropped in, a mix tank beside a sprayer, or a small fire water reserve on a rural site; for that last one, read fire water reservoir design for rural and remote sites before you size it. Forty-six inches across does not pass an interior doorway standing up, so plan the route in before the tank arrives. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads, kept under 120 F. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank rather than this one. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough for a submersible pump, a float and an arm with a brush. The vent lets air in as the tank drains; never plug it.
