Where a 165 gallon vertical with a manway goes

This is the emergency and household reserve size that gets cleaned: a few days of water for a family on hauled or well supply, a storm or outage reserve that is drained and refilled each season, a rain tank under a downspout, a pump house buffer, a stock or garden tank filled from the top. The manway is what sets it apart from the other small tanks, which carry a lid only; at 56 inches tall the manway is at chest height for most people, so filling, dropping a float or a pump in, and scrubbing the inside are all done from the ground. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. A 2 inch valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight in, and a 2 inch drain empties the tank quickly. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries water, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, drop a float in, and get a hand and a brush inside to clean. The vent lets air in and out as the level changes; never plug it.
