The Norwesco 5000 gallon black heavy duty vertical storage tank, part number 43833B, is a rotomolded polyethylene tank 141 inches in diameter and 86 inches tall, weighing 1014 lb empty. Where it goes and what it holds
Buy the low profile when the site caps the height: under a barn eave, inside a block building, beneath a canopy at a fertilizer plant or a chemical yard where a taller tank would not go in through the door or under the roof. At 86 inches the manway is a little over seven feet up, within reach from a short step, and at nearly twelve feet across the tank spreads its load over a big circle. The heavy duty wall is for liquids denser than water and for a tank that stays full year round; for plain water the standard wall tank in the same mould costs less. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a siphon tube, factory installed. The siphon tube reaches down inside the tank so the fitting can sit above the floor of the tank and still draw from near the bottom; Norwesco's drawing shows the fitting height and the tube. Your valve or pump suction threads straight into the 3 inch female thread. Support the valve and the first length of pipe within a foot of the wall so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: fill from a hose, drop a float or a level sensor in, and get a hand and a brush inside to clean. Leave the vent clear so air can move as the level changes.
- Extra ports. Only the one outlet comes installed. A recirculation return, a second draw or an overflow means extra bulkhead fittings; tell us when you order and we quote them with the tank.
