A 5000 gallon black vertical tank that stays under seven and a half feet
The Norwesco 5000 gallon black vertical storage tank, part number 40941B, is a rotomoulded polyethylene tank 141 inches in diameter and 86 inches tall, weighing 854 lb empty. Where the low, wide 5000 fits
Pick this shape when height is the limit and floor is not: under a barn roof, beside a building with a low eave, on a windy site where a tall tank would need anchoring, or anywhere you want to fill and inspect from a short step instead of a ladder. It suits a ranch water system, a fire reserve, a large roof rainwater system, an irrigation buffer or a plant receiving liquid by the tanker load. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a siphon tube, factory installed. The siphon tube lets the outlet draw from lower in the tank than the fitting sits. A 3 inch valve or camlock threads straight in; on a tank this size the 3 inch run is the one to keep. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top for the fill line, a float switch and cleaning. The vent has to pass the air that moves with the liquid; keep it clear, especially when the tank is filled from a tanker.
- Liquid and temperature. At or below 1.5 specific gravity and at or below 120 F. Heavier liquids belong in the heavy duty version below. Check anything other than water against polyethylene before the first fill.
