Who buys the short 5000

Buy this tank when two things are true at once: the liquid is heavier than water, and the space is short. At 86 inches tall it goes inside a building, under a canopy or beside a loading dock where the tall 5000 gallon verticals cannot stand, and it fills from a short step ladder. The price of the height is floor: it needs a flat, continuous 141 inch circle of pad, which is nearly twelve feet across. Full of a 1.9 liquid that pad carries a heavy, concentrated load, so size the slab to the tank, not to the floor around it. If your liquid is water or close to it, the standard rated version holds the same 5000 gallons for less; the heavy duty rating is what you are paying for here. What goes in it

Dense liquid fertilizer and water treatment chemicals are the usual loads, with water behind them. Check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide before the first fill and keep the contents under 120 F. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall, with a siphon tube so the tank draws from the bottom. A 3 inch valve or camlock threads straight in. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, drop a float or a level sensor in, and get a brush inside. On this tank the manway is within reach from a step ladder.

The tank ships as oversize freight, Norwesco's OVS class, 141 by 141 by 86 inches, from Norwesco's Hanford, California plant; Norwesco gives the ship weight as 1015 lb. A load nearly twelve feet wide needs a route check and a wide spot to unload, so tell us about gates and overhead lines when you order. At the tailgate, check the part number against 43833 on the bill of lading and look over the whole shell for transit damage. Set it on the finished pad, fit the outlet valve before the first fill, and fill with water the first time so any problem shows up with something harmless in the tank.
