Two things have to be true at once

The liquid has to be heavier than water, and it has to lose something by standing in the light: strength, colour, clarity, or a fight with algae. That combination has its own buyers. A co-op holding a dense fertilizer solution on an open pad. A treatment plant with a coagulant that fades in sunlight. A wastewater site with a dense polymer standing outdoors between deliveries. For all of them the pad is usually outside, where the black wall pays twice: no light reaches the liquid, and the sun that would chalk a pale tank is absorbed instead. What it costs is the level: a sender and a local readout are part of the install, not an upgrade.

What to check before you buy

1. The pad. A rotomoulded tank bears on its whole floor, so 8,340 lb of water, or 15,846 lb at the rating, lands on a 60 inch circle. Pour it to our concrete pad sizing guide, level and in full contact, inside a berm sized to the tank where the liquid is regulated.
2. Restraint. 300 lb of empty shell 89 inches tall catches wind, and a black tank in the sun grows a little every day, so the bands go on the day it lands and get checked after the first storm and at the end of the first summer.
3. The pump. With no visible level, the pump has to be told when to stop by instruments. Mount it below the outlet so the standing column floods the suction, then wire a low-level cut-out and a high-level alarm.
4. The outlet. The 18 inch threaded vented manway is the only opening carried on this page. Name the liquid and the draw-off you want and we will confirm the fitting, its size and material before anything is cut. Snyder's drawing is linked under Technical Drawing.
5. Fill and vent. A dip tube to the floor so a dense liquid does not cascade and coat the headspace; the vent piped outdoors and sized to the delivery pump.

Whatever is plumbed at the base sits on its own stand with a flexible connector to hard pipe.

The same shell in other walls, and the sizes either side

The 1,000 gallon heavy duty XLPE tank is this rating in natural white; if the liquid does not care about daylight, the white wall gives you a level you can read. The 1,000 gallon black heavy duty tank is the other black heavy duty wall in the shell, and the 1,000 gallon XLPE tank is the lighter-rated white one. If the footprint is wrong rather than the colour, the 850 gallon black heavy duty vertical tank stands on a narrower base and the 1,100 gallon heavy duty vertical tank is wide and low. Shipping and receiving

The tank ships LTL at freight class 300 from Snyder's Chowchilla, CA plant, 60 by 60 by 89 inches at 300 lb. Price the lane to your ZIP with the freight cost estimator. Straps under the body, never a sling through the manway, and set it on the cured pad in one move. Check the part number against 1831000N48 on the bill of lading, then fill with water to the manway, hold it, walk the base twice, and dry the tank before any chemical arrives.
