Where the pipe goes

• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 179 inches up; on acid or caustic the vent goes outdoors, the fill goes down a dip tube, and the vent is sized to the tanker pump.
• Outlet: order the bulkhead fitting in the material the chemical calls for; a flanged transition, an expansion joint, and a valve supported off the slab.

Choose the level sender for the chemical and read it at ground level so nobody climbs for a number; keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and shade the tank where the chemical is light-sensitive. Bringing in a load

A tanker unloads faster than the manway can breathe, so the vent is sized for the pump or the fill takes a dedicated top bulkhead with its own vent. The fill pipe runs to the floor so the liquid does not free-fall and foam. A dense liquid heats when water is added to it, so a batch tank is filled with water before the chemical, never after. The first delivery into a new tank is watched from start to finish, with the slab edge and the outlet fitting checked as the level climbs, and each delivery after it is logged with its date and strength.
