The Snyder Industries 1100 Gallon vertical storage tank is a black, crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) vessel built for heavy-duty water and dense-liquid storage. It stands 55 inches tall on an 86 by 86 inch footprint, and its ASTM XLPE wall carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating. That rating is real structural headroom: the wall is engineered to hold liquids up to about 1.9 times the density of water - roughly 15.8 pounds per gallon - so the full 1,100 gallons stays usable even under heavy loads that would over-stress a standard-duty HDPE tank.

Will it work for your site?

A full load of water in this tank weighs about 9,174 pounds, and the tank is rated to a maximum contents weight of roughly 17,431 pounds. Plan your pad and anchoring for the loaded weight you will actually run, not the empty shell. At 55 inches tall the tank clears most overhead, so the real siting constraint is width: the 86 by 86 inch footprint is about 7.2 feet square, which sets your doorway, gate, and pad clearance. Measure the access path before delivery. Fittings on this vertical storage tank include a flange, a 9 inch by 9 inch flat fitting, an 18-inch polyethylene threaded and vented fitting, a second flat fitting, and a manway with 15 inch access for interior reach during cleaning and inspection. The 18-inch fitting is vented for a reason - venting lets air in on a fast draw and out on a fast fill, which prevents the vacuum that can collapse a sealed poly tank. Confirm each fitting position against the technical drawing on this page before you set plumbing, since outlet placement drives your bulkhead and valve layout.

Sizing, pad, and fire-water use

Use the loaded weights above with our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to match the tank to your draw and refill cycle. Because a filled tank concentrates heavy load on a small square footprint, a level, fully supported base matters - our guide on concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework. At 1,100 gallons this Snyder XLPE tank is a practical volume for a rural fire-water reservoir; our fire-water reservoir design guide covers NFPA 22 sizing discipline and cold-climate freeze protection.

The mistake to avoid

Do not treat XLPE and HDPE as interchangeable, and do not plan to add penetrations in the field. Because the polyethylene is crosslinked, cutting new fittings after the fact is a poor bet - order the fitting configuration you need up front. The 1.9 SG rating is a ceiling on liquid density, so confirm your contents fall within it rather than assuming any liquid is fine. Our guide on Snyder XLPE vs HDPE explains when crosslinking earns its keep.
