Under a mezzanine, a pipe rack or a low eave

Basements and pump rooms with pipe racks overhead, mezzanine floors, skids and truck beds that cannot carry a tall tank, greenhouses under a low eave: those sites buy this shape, and the 1.9 rating lets them put a dense liquid in it. At 55 inches the top of the shell is below shoulder height, so the manway opens from the ground without a platform. What to check before you buy

1. The pad. 9,174 lb of water, or 17,431 lb at the rating, bears on the whole 86 inch floor, and a wide floor finds a low corner a narrow one would bridge. Pour to our concrete pad sizing guide, level and in full contact.
2. Restraint. A short, wide tank looks too squat to move, which is why people skip the bands. At 210 lb empty it will walk across a slab in a gust. Band it to structure or anchors the day it lands.
3. The outlet. This tank carries an Outlet entry of "9" with no unit, thread or material beside it, and we do not read that as a pipe size. Tell us the liquid and the draw-off you want and we will confirm the fitting, its size and material before anything is cut. Snyder's drawing is linked under Technical Drawing on this page.
4. Fill and vent. Fill through a dip tube to the floor; a wide free surface foams when splash-filled. The manway vent sits at 55 inches where wash-down spray, dust and snow reach it; size it to the delivery pump and keep the screen clear.
5. Headspace. Leave freeboard for expansion at the 140 F limit. A wide tank hides expansion, so calculate the freeboard rather than eyeball it.

A flat tank gives little suction head, so set the pump below the outlet with a low-level float. Carry the first valve on its own support with a flexible connector to hard pipe. Black hides the level, so plan a sender.

Shipping and receiving

The tank ships LTL at freight class 400 from Snyder's Marked Tree, AR plant, 86 by 86 by 55 inches at 210 lb. The class follows the footprint, not the weight. Price the lane to your ZIP with the freight cost estimator. Two people and a strap under the body handle it on level ground, never a strap through the manway. Check the part number against 8120000N48 on the bill of lading, then fill with water to the manway, hold it, and look for daylight between the slab and the tank edge before the working liquid comes.
