Headspace, fill line and a vent that keeps up

• Vent: the manway is listed as an 18 inch threaded, vented manway. Treat the vent as a sizing calculation and not a fitting: it must pass air out faster than the delivery pump pushes liquid in, or the shell sees pressure it was never meant to hold. Keep the path clear, run it outdoors on a liquid that fumes, and check it at the same interval as the bands.
• Fill: bottom fill through a dip tube to the floor. Dropping liquid 87 inches into a tank foams it, builds static on the products that carry it, and pushes the shell around on its pad.

Everything downstream of the tank gets its own support. The first valve stands on a bracket off the pad, a flexible connector absorbs thermal movement between the fitting and the hard pipe, and a transfer pump sits below the take-off so gravity primes it, with a low-level float to stop it before it runs dry.
