The Snyder Industries 1100 Gallon HDPE Vertical Double Wall Liquid Chemical Storage Tank in White puts primary storage and secondary containment in one footprint, which is why operators reach for it on SPCC-regulated sites instead of pouring a separate concrete dike. It stands 104 inches tall on a 76 x 76 inch base, holds 1,100 gallons, and carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating - it is built to hold liquids up to 1.9 times the weight of water. The tank is molded from high density linear polyethylene (HDLPE) in white. As a vertical double wall tank, the inner wall stores the liquid and the outer wall captures a leak.

Will it work for your job?

The numbers that drive your installation: a full water load is 9,174 lb, and at the full 1.9 SG rating the tank carries up to 17,431 lb of contents. Size your pad, anchoring, and forklift or crane capacity around the higher figure - that 17,431 lb rated weight, not the water weight, is what your foundation has to bear. The 1.9 rating is real headroom for heavy duty: dense oxidizers and acids on the list below, such as sulfuric acid 98% and ferric chloride 50%, sit comfortably in-spec, so you are not over-buying a tank that can carry the load. The 76 x 76 inch footprint and 104-inch height should be checked against door and ceiling clearances before delivery. Fittings on this unit include a flange, an 18-inch PE threaded and vented fitting that addresses atmospheric venting for off-gassing chemicals, and a manway with 15-inch access for entry and servicing - see the technical drawing on this page for fitting locations and elevations. If you are still confirming the size for your volume and turnover, run the numbers through our Tank Sizing Calculator, read the Tank Sizing Guide, or compare against the same-capacity buyer's guides for the 1100-gallon vertical (part 42591) and part 40070 configurations. Operators searching for an hdpe vertical storage tank or a vertical double wall storage tank land here for exactly this combination of capacity and integral containment.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is molded from HDLPE with a 1.9 specific gravity rating. The fitting and gasket materials below come from the OEM chemical-resistance chart and are concentration- and temperature-specific - match them to your actual service conditions, not just the chemical name. Compatible chemicals and their recommended fitting and gasket materials include Acetic Acid 60% (PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets, details), Aluminum Sulfate 50% (PVC, EPDM, details), Calcium Chloride 40% (PVC, EPDM, details), DEF 32.5% (316SS fittings, EPDM, details), Ethylene Glycol 100% (PVC, EPDM, details), Ferric Chloride 50% (PVC, EPDM, details), Ferric Sulfate 60%, Ferrous Sulfate 20%, Hydrochloric Acid 37% (PVC fittings, Viton gaskets, details), Hydrofluoric Acid 48% (PP/PVC, Viton, details), Hydrofluosilicic Acid 26% (PP/PVC, Viton, details), Hydrogen Peroxide 50% (PVC, Viton, details), Magnesium Chloride 30% (PVC, EPDM, details), Peracetic Acid 30% (316SS fittings, Aflas gaskets, details), Phosphoric Acid 85% (PVC, Viton, details), Polyaluminum Chloride (PVC, EPDM, details), Potassium Carbonate 50% (PVC, EPDM, details), Potassium Hydroxide saturated (PVC, EPDM, details), Propylene Glycol (PP/316SS, EPDM, details), Sodium Bisulfate (PVC/PP, EPDM, details), Sodium Bisulfite (PVC/PP, EPDM, details), Sodium Carbonate 30% (PVC, EPDM, details), Sodium Hypochlorite under 16.5% (PVC fittings, Viton gaskets, details), Sodium Thiosulfate 40% (PVC, EPDM, details), Sulfuric Acid 98% (CPVC fittings, Viton gaskets, details), Urea Solution 50% (PP/PVC, EPDM, details), Zinc Orthophosphate (PP/316SS, EPDM, details), and Ozonated Water up to 10 PPM (PVC, EPDM). Notice that the fitting metal changes with the chemical - DEF and peracetic acid call for 316SS, while sulfuric acid needs CPVC - so spec the gasket and fitting material to the specific chemical, not the tank. Full concentration and temperature notes for each are in our Chemical Compatibility Database.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error on a double wall chemical tank is matching the fitting and gasket to the tank instead of to the chemical. The HDLPE shell tolerates this whole list, but a PVC fitting or an EPDM gasket put on sodium hypochlorite or sulfuric acid will fail long before the tank does - both need Viton, and concentrated sulfuric acid needs CPVC. Confirm your exact concentration against the OEM chart, and if you are sizing for an SPCC-regulated site, the Snyder double-wall SPCC 40 CFR 112 walkthrough and our level-gauge selection guide cover the instrumentation and compliance details.
