Cross-linked polyethylene at 1,100 gallons
The Snyder 1830000N42 is the XLPE version of Snyder's 64 inch by 90 inch, 1,100 gallon vertical chemical tank: 300 pounds empty, rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, which is 17,431 pounds of contents against 9,174 for water, and listed to ANSI/NSF 61. Cross-linked resin is the tank wall for sodium hypochlorite, for sulfuric acid at strength, and for any chemical that will be stored warm; it is the durable answer where a linear-resin tank would be a consumable.

What cross-linking buys
Linear polyethylene is a thermoplastic that softens with heat and creeps under sustained load; cross-linked polyethylene is molded with a catalyst that ties the chains into one network, so it holds shape under load, resists stress cracking from oxidizers and tolerates higher service temperatures. The trade is that it cannot be plastic-welded, so fittings are bulkhead or bolted, never fused, and a damaged XLPE wall is replaced rather than repaired. The two 1,100 gallon vertical tank buyers guides (second guide) walk the 1,100 gallon class, and the chemical compatibility database confirms the resin against your liquid at its concentration.
Same volume, other resins and shapes
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1830000N42 (this tank, XLPE) | 1,100 | 64 x 90 in | 300 lb |
| 1830000N45 (HDLPE) | 1,100 | 64 x 90 in | 300 lb |
| 1710000C34 (low profile) | 1,100 | 86 x 55 in | 160 lb |
| 1831000C34 | 1,000 | 60 x 89 in | 260 lb |
| 1830200N40 | 1,200 | 60 x 109 in | 300 lb |
The N45 is the linear-resin twin at the same 300 pounds, for milder chemicals and food-grade liquids. The 1710000C34 puts the same 1,100 gallons under a 55 inch ceiling on an 86 inch base and weighs 140 pounds less. The 60 inch base tanks trade 100 gallons either way for a narrower footprint; the 1830200N40 reaches 109 inches to do it.

Ports
- Outlet: 2 inch, low on the sidewall.
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
- Listing: ANSI/NSF 61.
Hard-pipe the outlet through a flanged transition with an expansion joint, and support the valve off the tank. Choose the level sender for the chemical using the level gauge selection guide; hypochlorite in particular is hard on wetted sensors. For secondary containment, the Snyder Captor 110 percent containment comparison sets double-wall tanks against berms and UL 142.
Sizing the bulk tank
Eleven hundred gallons of hypochlorite or caustic is typically sized to a delivery interval: the tank sizing calculator works from feed rate and days between deliveries, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve to hold back. Hypochlorite degrades with time and heat, so a tank sized for a month of feed in summer wastes chlorine; two smaller turnovers are often the better plan. Shade the tank or house it, keep it off a hot slab, and vent it through a scrubber or to the outside; the off-gas is what corrodes the electrical gear in a feed room.
Shipping the tank
At 64 inches across the 1830000N42 ships palletized as LTL freight (NMFC 156600-02) at a class rate; see it for your ZIP in the freight cost estimator. The listed price is before freight. Three hundred pounds comes off a liftgate on a pallet jack and rolls into place without equipment. Because XLPE cannot be welded, any fitting you add later is a bulkhead through a drilled hole, so decide the port layout before the tank is filled; then fill it with water, hold it, and confirm the outlet and manway are dry before the first hypochlorite delivery.
