The Snyder 8140000N49 holds 2,500 gallons of black polyethylene storage 90 inches across and 107 inches tall, 450 pounds empty, molded at Marked Tree, Arkansas. It is the tall 2,500: the same outside dimensions as the 5090000 tanks, the same 450 pounds the sheet gives them, and a wall rated for a specific gravity of 1.5, which is 31,275 pounds of contents against 20,850 pounds for the same tank full of water at 8.34 pounds per gallon. The sheet also gives it 8 lifting lugs, 4 tiedown lugs and ladder lugs, which is the part of this tank a rigger cares about. An 18 inch threaded, vented manway on the top head, a service limit of 120 F / 48 C, a 3 year warranty, and freight at class 400. The 8140000 family inside the 5090000 shell

Two part families put 2,500 gallons into the same 90 x 107 inch shell, and this is the 8140000 one. The dimensions match the 5090000 tanks line for line and so does the 450 pound empty weight the sheet gives both, so the shape is not the reason to choose between them. The reasons are on the sheet. This tank is rated 1.5, it ships from Marked Tree, and the sheet lists it with 8 lifting lugs, 4 tiedown lugs and ladder lugs molded into the shell, which means the rigging points and the tie-down points are part of the tank rather than something improvised with straps on delivery day. On a site where the tank is set by crane into a bay, or where it is trucked between locations more than once, that is the difference that shows up. Once it is down, 107 inches on a 90 inch base is the taller, narrower way to hold 2,500 gallons: it takes less floor than the wide moldings and it wants a roof line measured before the order, with room above the manway for a fill line and a vent. Full at the rating it puts 31,275 pounds on a 90 inch circle, the whole floor of the tank in the load path, so the slab is engineered to the concrete pad sizing guide, level and in full contact, inside a berm sized to the tank where the liquid is regulated. Four rows at 2,500 gallons, 90 x 107 inches and 450 pounds. Nothing in the dimensions separates them, which is exactly why the sheet matters more than the photograph in this family: each of those three 5090000 tanks is rated as its own sheet says, and this one is the 1.5 wall with the lug pattern listed. Step down the base column and the 5050000C26 keeps the 90 inch footprint but stops at 88 inches, giving up five hundred gallons to fit a low room, which makes it the direct swap when a ceiling measurement comes back short. Step out and the 8390000C26 spends floor instead of height: 2,650 gallons on a 102 inch base at 97 inches, a hundred and fifty more gallons and a foot more diameter. If the aisle is narrow, the 90 inch shell is the one that fits, and within it this is the tank with the rigging points on the sheet.

Eight lifting lugs, one vented manway, and the air path

  • Vent and access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway on the top head, 107 inches up, with ladder lugs on the shell for fixed access. The vent in that lid handles the tank breathing, not a tanker discharging at full rate, so the air path is matched to the delivery pump before the first fill. Nearly nine feet of shell fills fast at the top and an undersized vent shows up as a dished top head.
  • Headspace: freeboard above the liquid line for thermal expansion, and a vent screen looked at every time the lid comes off. A plugged screen makes the lid gasket the relief path, which is not a design, it is a leak waiting for a warm afternoon.
  • Fill: down a dip tube to the floor so the load does not free-fall 107 inches, which keeps foam and aeration out of a chlorinated liquid.
  • Rigging: 8 lifting lugs and 4 tiedown lugs as the sheet lists them. Lift on the lugs, tie down on the lugs, and keep straps out of the manway entirely.

Nearly nine feet of liquid above the base is useful suction head for a tank this size: a transfer pump set below the outlet runs flooded well into the tank and a low level float stops it before it pulls air. Whatever base fitting is specified at order, the connector to hard pipe is flexible and the first valve rides on its own support off the pad, because thermal movement and pump vibration both end up in the fitting when the pipe run is what holds the valve up. Keep a spare gasket for it on the shelf. Keep the manway shut between deliveries. Name the one liquid on the wall in letters readable from the gate, and put a light on the band of wall above the liquid line at every opening.

The tall 2,500 in a chemical bay

The 90 inch footprint is what puts this tank where it usually lands: a chemical bay with a narrow aisle, a pump room where two or three tanks share a wall, a plant that feeds a dosing skid from a tank set beside it rather than out in the yard. At 1.5 the wall covers hypochlorite at a water or wastewater plant, brine at a food plant or a road department, a light fertilizer solution at a co-op, and process and washdown water anywhere.
