Where it goes

This is the 2,500 gallon tank for a cold climate site: a water reserve that has to be drained or heated before winter, a liquid fertilizer tank at a corn and soybean operation, a brine or treatment chemical tank at a township water plant, rinse water at a dairy or a processor. The 90 inch shell fits a small containment and a standard flatbed, and at just under nine feet it stands inside a machine shed or a steel building where a tank in the North belongs from November on. The floor carries the load: a rotationally moulded tank bears on its whole floor, so the circle takes all 20,850 lb of water and more at the rating, and frost heave under one side of a pad loads that side. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting low in the wall. Two inches suits a transfer pump, a dosing pump and a hose fill; for fast gravity loading, ask us about the outlet at order. Fit a flexible connector to hard pipe and carry the first valve on a support off the pad. In a freezing climate the outlet and the first valve are where ice forms first; drain or heat trace them.
2. Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, for the fill hose, a float and a brush. Keep the vent clear and check it after a freeze; ice in a vent lets a pump pull a vacuum on the shell.
3. Liquid and temperature. Polyethylene handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals to 120 F. Check anything aggressive with us before the order; a liquid heavier than 1.5 times water needs the heavy duty wall of this shell, not this tank.
