The farm and small-plant wall

A water wall is for water and nothing heavier; the heaviest wall is for concentrated acid; a 1.5 wall is the middle, sized for the liquids most farms and small plants actually store, with margin. Rotationally molded polyethylene tanks are sized to ASTM D1998, and the way a tank meets the density it is rated for is in the wall. Full at the rating it puts 31,275 pounds on a 90 inch circle, and a rotationally molded floor bears on all of it: a slab in full contact per the concrete pad sizing guide, or a compacted, screeded gravel pad for water, inside a berm when the liquid is a regulated chemical, with the empty tank strapped against wind because nine feet of empty polyethylene is a sail. Two part families on one shell, and the 2,500s beside it

Snyder lists this 90 x 107 inch shell under two part families, and the 5090000C26 and C34 are the same tank at the same weight in the general grades, with the C37-BLACK the black one for sun. The 5090300C37 puts the same 2,500 gallons on a 96 inch base nine inches lower, for a ceiling just over eight feet. The 5050000C26 is the 2,000 on this base at 88 inches, and the 8390000C26 lays 2,650 gallons down to 97 inches on a 102 inch base.

Where the pipe goes

• Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, at the base; a flexible connector between the bulkhead and hard pipe, the valve supported off the pad, and a flanged transition on a chemical.
• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 107 inches up, reached from a step; filled by hose, tote pump or truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes, and the vent sized for the delivery pump.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Nine feet of liquid above the outlet is a flooded suction to the last few inches; put the pump below the outlet, where gravity keeps it primed, and let a low-level float shut it down before it runs dry. Keep the manway closed against vapor loss and keep the tank out of direct sun where the liquid is light-sensitive. Where it freezes, insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first length of pipe; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.
