300 gallons through a 36 inch doorway
The Snyder 32501 holds 300 gallons in a green polyethylene tank 36 inches across and 72 inches tall, 57 pounds empty. Thirty-six inches is the number: it is the width of a standard door, which is why this shape is called a doorway tank and why it ends up in basements, garages, utility rooms and pump houses that a wider tank never enters. A 20 inch threaded vented manway on top, a 1-1/2 inch polypropylene inlet and a 2 inch polypropylene outlet. Rated for a specific gravity of 1.0, water only.

Getting it inside
At 57 pounds one person carries it, and at 36 inches it passes a door upright or on its side. The catch is height: 72 inches standing means a low basement ceiling needs checking, and the manway on top needs a foot of clearance to open. Full, it weighs 2,502 pounds on a 36 inch circle, which is a concentrated load on a floor; on a slab it is nothing, on a wood floor put it over a joist or on a small pad. The 300 gallon green doorway tank buyer's guide covers the indoor installs in detail, and the concrete pad sizing guide covers an outdoor base.
The 300 gallon shapes
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 32495 | 200 | 40 x 42 in | 33 lb |
| 32499, black | 300 | 36 x 72 in | 57 lb |
| 32501 (this tank) | 300 | 36 x 72 in | 57 lb |
| 32613 | 300 | 36 x 72 in | 57 lb |
| WB21 | 300 | 35 x 81 in | 65 lb |
| WG24R, green | 330 | 47 x 50 in | 65 lb |
Three 300 gallon parts share this 36 by 72 inch mold in different colors. The WB21 is an inch narrower and 9 inches taller with 8 more pounds of wall, for a doorway with a high ceiling. The WG24R goes the other way, 47 inches across and only 50 tall, for a crawlspace rather than a doorway. The 200 gallon 32495 is the squat option at 42 inches.
Still deciding between these? Freight to your ZIP often settles it; the wider tanks ship differently. Or call 866-418-1777 and we will walk the table with you.
Plumbing a doorway tank
- Inlet: 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting on top, for a fill line or a float valve.
- Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the base; valve, union, pump.
- Access: 20 inch threaded, vented manway. Indoors the vent still has to breathe.
- Service limit 120 F / 48 C.
A sight tube on the outlet reads the level; for a pressure system the level gauge selection guide covers a float switch or sensor.
What 300 gallons is for
A pressure reserve for a well that recovers slowly, an emergency water store in a basement, a rain barrel with real capacity, and the makeup tank on a small reuse system laid out in the industrial water reuse topology guide. It is not a fire reserve on its own; the fire-water reservoir design guide explains what NFPA 22 actually expects. Size it against your draw with the tank sizing calculator and the tank sizing guide.
Freight
LTL freight, NMFC 156600-02, 57 pounds crated at 36 by 36 by 72 inches; the freight cost estimator quotes your ZIP and the listed price is before freight. It is light enough that the freight is a small part of the total and one person can carry it in. Fill it in stages the first time and check the outlet fitting under load.
