The Snyder Industries 440 Gallon HDLPE Chemical Feed Station Tank is purpose-built for bulk chemical storage and metering, molded in high density linear polyethylene (HDLPE) and rated to a 1.9 specific gravity - heavy enough for the dense ferric and aluminum coagulants that a standard 1.0 or 1.5 SG water tank is not rated to hold. At 440 gallons in a white shell standing 69" high on a 68" x 83" footprint, this Snyder chemical tank parks against a wall as a compact chemical feed station while leaving room for a pump skid, level gauge, and containment alongside.
Will it work for your application?
This is a chemical tank, not a water tank, and the difference is the resin and the SG rating. Filled with plain water the contents weigh about 3,670 lb; at the full 1.9 SG rating the tank carries up to 6,972 lb of dense chemical. Size your slab, anchoring, and any saddle or stand to that 6,972 lb rated-contents number, not the water weight - that is the figure that breaks concrete. Confirm the standing surface is flat and fully supported across the entire 68" x 83" footprint before you fill, and see the technical drawing on this page for fitting locations and tank geometry. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to confirm 440 gallons matches your day-tank turnover and refill cadence.
Chemical compatibility
This tank is molded in HDLPE and rated to 1.9 specific gravity, and that high rating is the actual reason to choose it over a lighter water tank: it holds the dense coagulant trio of ferric chloride (50%, PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets), ferric sulfate (60%, PVC, EPDM), and aluminum sulfate (50%, PVC, EPDM) that sink under-rated tanks. Compatibility always depends on resin, concentration, and temperature, so verify each chemistry against the OEM chemical-resistance chart for your exact concentration and operating temperature, and match wetted fitting and gasket materials to the chemical. Beyond the coagulants, this tank is suited for acetic acid (60%, PP/PVC, EPDM), hydrochloric acid (37%, PVC, Viton), hydrofluoric acid (48%, PP/PVC, Viton), hydrofluosilicic acid (26%, PP/PVC, Viton), hydrogen peroxide (50%, PVC, Viton), phosphoric acid (85%, PVC, Viton), sodium hypochlorite (<16.5%, PVC, Viton), sulfuric acid (98%, CPVC, Viton), peracetic acid (30%, 316SS, Aflas), and DEF (32.5%, 316SS, EPDM). It also handles calcium chloride (40%), magnesium chloride (30%), ethylene glycol (100%), propylene glycol, ferrous sulfate (20%), sodium carbonate (30%), sodium bisulfate, sodium bisulfite, sodium thiosulfate (40%), potassium carbonate (50%), potassium hydroxide (saturated), polyaluminum chloride, zinc orthophosphate, urea solution (50%), and ozonated water up to 10 PPM. Browse the full Chemical Compatibility Database to confirm your chemistry and the matching wetted materials.
The mistake to avoid
Two errors sink chemical-feed installs, and both come down to the exception chemistries. First, mismatched wetted materials: the default PVC fitting with an EPDM gasket covers many of the chemicals above, but the outliers are where tanks fail. DEF and peracetic acid need 316SS instead of plastic; peracetic acid alone calls for an Aflas gasket; sulfuric acid at 98% needs CPVC, not PVC; and the Viton group - hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrogen peroxide, phosphoric acid, sodium hypochlorite, and sulfuric acid - must not run on EPDM. Put EPDM where Viton or Aflas belongs and you get premature gasket failure. Second, instrumentation: a 1.9 SG chemistry behaves differently than water, so choose your level measurement deliberately - our level gauge selection guide walks radar vs. ultrasonic vs. hydrostatic vs. magnetostrictive, and the tank labeling and signage guide covers NFPA 704 and GHS placarding.
