Where a 48 by 45 inch bin lands on the floor

The footprint is the argument. Forty-eight inches by forty-five is narrower in one direction than a full pallet square, and those three inches matter when a bin has to go between two machine frames, alongside a conveyor leg or into a bay that was never laid out for it. The height is 86 inches, and that is the number to check against the building first: a standard dock door takes it standing, a low roller shutter, a sprinkler main or a duct at that level does not. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. 2 inch, at the bottom of the 45 degree slope. A slide gate, a valve or a feeder connection goes here; support it on its own so the bin carries material, not hardware.
2. Lid. A 12 inch lid on top, enough to fill from a sack or a chute and to get a hand inside to clean.
3. The material. Polyethylene suits most dry granules and powders that do not attack it. Check anything corrosive or hot with us; the shell is rated to 120 F.
