The Snyder Industries 4400 Gallon Cone Bottom Tank is a black polyethylene cone bottom tank built for full-drain bulk chemical storage and dosing, rated to a 1.5 specific gravity and standing 200 inches tall on a 90 x 90 inch footprint. Snyder molds this tank in Lincoln, Nebraska, and the cone discharge means the tank empties completely with no heel left sitting in the bottom - the reason cone bottom tanks are the standard for batching, mixing, and metered chemical feed where you cannot afford stagnant product.

Will it work for your application

At 4400 gallons this tank carries 36,696 lb of contents when full of water; at its 1.5 SG rating the maximum rated contents weight is 55,044 lb, so size the stand and slab to that loaded figure, not the empty shell. The cone shape requires elevation on a matching cone bottom stand - the discharge sits below the cone, not on the ground - so plan the support structure before delivery. Chemical compatibility

This tank is rated to 1.5 specific gravity. The resin designation is not confirmed in our data, so confirm whether the construction is HDLPE or XLPE before committing it to chemical service. At the 1.5 SG rating, this tank is suited to Acetic Acid (60%, PP/PVC fittings on EPDM), Aluminum Sulfate (50%), Calcium Chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%, 316SS fittings / EPDM), Ferrous Sulfate (20%), Magnesium Chloride (30%), Sodium Carbonate (30%), and Urea Solution (50%, PP/PVC on EPDM). Most of these run PVC fittings with EPDM gaskets; match the fitting and gasket materials to the chemical. Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM) runs PVC fittings on EPDM; we do not have a standing compatibility page for it, so confirm the ozone concentration and contact time with us before ordering.

Several heavier chemicals exceed what a 1.5 SG tank should hold and require you to step up to a 1.9 SG cone bottom tank instead; confirm the required 1.9 SG rating in the Chemical Compatibility Database before ordering so you don't commit this 1.5 SG shell to a chemical it isn't rated for. Among them are Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sulfuric Acid, and Zinc Orthophosphate. Several of those - Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Phosphoric Acid, Sodium Hypochlorite, and Sulfuric Acid - need Viton gaskets, with fittings ranging from PVC to CPVC rather than standard EPDM pairings. Peracetic Acid is the exception that needs an Aflas gasket with 316SS fittings - do not default it to Viton. Always verify against the OEM chemical-resistance chart at the specific concentration and temperature of your process before ordering.

Specifying it correctly - the mistake to avoid

The single most common error on a cone bottom chemical tank is matching the tank to the chemical name but not to its specific gravity. This tank is built for 1.5 SG; putting a product that exceeds the 1.5 SG rating into it shortens wall life and voids the rating. Confirm your chemical's SG against the 1.5 limit first, then confirm the resin and the fitting and gasket materials above.
