The Snyder Industries 4400 Gallon XLPE Heavy Duty Cone Bottom Tank is a 4,400-gallon crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) vessel rated to 1.9 specific gravity, built for dense, aggressive chemistry that a standard water tank cannot carry. It is molded in black to limit light transmission into the stored liquid, and the full cone bottom drains completely toward the center outlet - the geometry that lets you batch, transfer, and fully evacuate the tank between chemicals. The 15-inch manway access is what makes that between-batch cleanout real: you can get in to rinse and inspect, not just drain.

Will it work for your application

The 1.9 SG rating is the headline spec, and it is Snyder's top XLPE tier - there is no heavier-duty step-up to chase, so if your chemistry fits inside 1.9 you are already buying the strongest cone tank in this family. Filled with plain water, this tank carries roughly 36,696 lb of contents; at its maximum rated 1.9 specific gravity, contents reach about 69,722 lb. Size your stand, slab, and saddle to the rated load, not the water number - undersizing the support structure under a heavy-chemistry cone tank is the most common and most expensive mistake on a tank this size. Run your numbers through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you pour a foundation, and review the Cone Bottom Tank Stand Compatibility Matrix for the right Snyder support structure.

Plan the install around the dimensions, not just the volume. At 200 inches tall on a 90 x 90 inch footprint, this is a roughly 16.7-foot vessel before you add a stand, which puts the fill point well overhead - confirm ceiling and door clearance, overhead obstructions, and crane or forklift access at the delivery site. Fittings include a flange, an 18-inch PE threaded/vented fitting, and a manway with 15-inch access for entry, inspection, and cleaning. See the technical drawing on this page for fitting locations and elevations. If you are metering or transferring product, plan instrumentation early - our Tank Level Gauge Selection for Chemical Service guide walks through radar, ultrasonic, hydrostatic, and magnetostrictive options for cone-bottom tanks.

Chemical compatibility

This is an XLPE (crosslinked polyethylene) tank rated to 1.9 specific gravity. XLPE resists stress cracking and aggressive oxidizers better than standard HDPE - see Snyder XLPE vs HDPE: When Crosslinking Matters for Chemistry Duty for where that difference earns its keep. The chemicals below are compatible with this tank at the listed concentrations, with the recommended fitting and gasket materials per the OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is concentration- and temperature-specific - always confirm against your exact service conditions:

  • Acetic Acid (60%) - PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Aluminum Sulfate (50%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Calcium Chloride (40%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • DEF (32.5%) - 316SS fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Ethylene Glycol (100%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Ferric Chloride (50%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Ferric Sulfate (60%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Ferrous Sulfate (20%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Hydrofluosilicic Acid (26%) - PP/PVC fittings, Viton gaskets - details
  • Magnesium Chloride (30%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Polyaluminum Chloride - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Potassium Carbonate (50%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Potassium Hydroxide (saturated) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Propylene Glycol - PP/316SS fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Sodium Carbonate (30%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Sodium Thiosulfate (40%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Urea Solution (50%) - PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets (general guidance; confirm ozone concentration and contact time for your service)

Match your fitting and gasket materials to the chemical, not just the tank wall - the Hydrofluosilicic Acid line calls for Viton rather than EPDM for a reason. DEF and urea solution are the purity-sensitive lines here: both call for 316SS fittings, and the full-drain cone geometry plus the manway help you keep contamination out between fills. Browse the full Chemical Compatibility Database to cross-check your exact chemistry, concentration, and temperature before ordering.
