A dense-liquid rating in a low tank

Most heavy duty tanks at this volume are tall. This one is 116 inches to the top of the shell, which gets it under a low roof, beneath crane rails and inside a containment curb that a taller tank cannot enter, while still carrying a 1.9 rating. That is the buyer for this part number: a water plant with a dense coagulant in a low chemical bay, a finishing shop with acid or caustic beside the line, a food plant with brine under a mezzanine, a process plant with heavy scrubber liquor. If your liquid is at or near the weight of water, the 1.5 rated version of this same shell does the job for less. Openings and what to check before you buy

1. Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, 116 inches up: a fixed ladder and a small platform reach it, which is the practical reason low tanks get inspected. On a dense liquid the vent is also the vapor path, so size it to the delivery pump, screen it, and fill through a dip tube to the floor.
2. Outlet. No outlet fitting is listed on this product. Tell us the liquid, the pipe size and where the connection goes and we will confirm what Snyder installs and what you add. A short tank gives a pump little suction head, so mount it below the outlet and fit a low-level cutout.
3. Rating. 1.9 specific gravity and 140 F. Heavier or hotter liquids need a different tank; ask us.
