The Snyder Industries 4650 Gallon ASTM XLPE Black Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank (SKU 8210000N48) is a crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) vertical storage tank standing 154 inches tall on a true 102 x 102 inch square footprint. Molded in black to shield contents from UV and rated to a 1.9 specific gravity, it holds 4,650 gallons and is built to ASTM standards for heavy-duty above-ground service. That 1.9 SG rating tells you how dense a liquid this wall can safely carry, and it sits at the top of the range — well above what a standard water tank offers.
Will it work for your site?
Filled with water, this tank carries roughly 38,781 pounds; at its maximum rated 1.9 SG contents it is engineered to hold up to 73,684 pounds. Plan your pad accordingly — the full 102-inch square footprint needs continuous, level bearing support. For plain water or process-water duty you rarely need the full 1.9 SG headroom; what the crosslinked wall buys you is impact and stress-crack margin, plus room to change service later. Our breakdown of Snyder XLPE vs HDPE explains exactly when crosslinking earns its place. If you are still confirming volume, run the numbers through our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide.
Fittings and the ports that seal
The tank comes fitted for real plumbing: a flange fitting, a 12" x 13.75" S.U.M.O. flat fitting, an 18-inch polyethylene threaded and vented top fitting, additional S.U.M.O. and S.U.M.O. flat fittings, and a manway with 15-inch access for inspection and cleaning. The 18-inch PE threaded/vented top fitting is your vent — keep it clear so the tank breathes on fast fill and draw and never pulls a vacuum. The flange and 15-inch manway are bolted, gasketed connections; verify gasket material and bolt pattern against the technical drawing on this page so your fill, vent, and inspection ports seal on the first torque-up. Confirm the exact fitting sizes and locations against that drawing before you order elbows, bulkheads, or a fill line, so everything matches on day one.
The mistake to avoid
Do not undersize the foundation or ignore freeboard. At over 19 tons of water — and far more with a dense liquid — this is a structural load, not a stock tank. For the pad itself, see our guide on concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks, and for rural fire-water reservoirs review fire-water reservoir design and NFPA 22 sizing.
